Just a thought i had when a friend asked me to come up with my 5 favorite musical acts of the last fifty years. I couldn't do it.

I could do five of the sixties...

bob dylan
and the rolling stones

I could do five of the seventies... (no repeats from above)
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Fleetwood mac
Black Sabbath
The Clash

I could do five of the eighties...
Michael Jackson
Bruce Springsteen
Guns and Roses
U2
Van Halen

I could do five of the nineties...
Pearl Jam
Alice in Chains
REM
Nirvana
Red Hot Chili Peppers

And even five in the shitty 00's
Radiohead
My Morning Jacket
Bloc Party
Coldplay
and fuck ill bring back bob dylan cause this decade blows

I just cant narrow it down to 5 in all.
What are you guys thoughts on the best acts of all time? Of each decade. I'd like to know

Dunno what ya trippin' on, but seriously, I don't know a single one of them.

I'm starting to suspect that you're one of those smug people who pride themselves in liking anything as long as it's unknown underground stuff that nobody else likes or even heard about. I've met a couple of such people and they're the most dishonest music 'lovers' you can find.

60's - King Crimson, Yes, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix

70's - King Crimson, Led Zeppelin, Brian Eno

80's - King Crimson, Micheal Jackson, 808 State

90's - King Crimson, Boards of Canada, Autechre, Aphex Twin, Death Cab for Cutie, At the Gates

00's - King Crimson, The Postal Service, The Mars Volta, Between the Buried and Me, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Battles, etc.

Music keeps getting better. :)

Though, I really wish more bands today would utilize dynamics and varied musical structure. It seems as though every song on the radio is in 4/4 time and it never changes loudness. =\
