Religion was first invented to explain the wonders, and it lasts to give us all hope that there is something after. No point in going on if there is just death.

Well the Bible explicitly states 'free will' multiple times and that people have the choice to do right and wrong. Not sure where you get the whole prophecy thing from cause there really isn't THAT much prophecy that's relevant today. The only real prophecies I can think of (the major ones) are that Jesus, son of David would be born (blah blah blah) and something about a world war / the anti-Christ / and the end of the world which is VERY vague in interpretation and doesn't really contain any specifics.

yes exactly we have free will and our lives are a test blah blah blah, BUT! if we have free will rather than a destiny/fate set in stone, how is the future at all predictable/foreseeable?

it really makes no sense to me.

EDIT: was not just talking about christianity. even though there is plenty of prophecy in it, i had a bible basher come to my house every fortnight for a bit to "teach me" about the bible. prophecy is all she went on about.

not trying to "bash" anything, just thought that this little thought of mine might have been a wee bit of an apiffany

lol take the bible the guy is offering you and king hit him over the head with it. How about you imagine it this way:
Theres a human and a mouse. You are the mouse and you are in a maze. You only see what is around the next corner when you get to the next corner. The human looking down on the maze already knows the result and can see the 'future' of how to get out of the maze. Maybe God = the human and the human = the mouse.

Author states an incorrect premise and proceeds to draw conclusions from it.

Holy fuck.

god can be who ever he wants in that statement, in the end your still saying that god knows where the mouse is going to go, that can only mean there is no other choice for the mouse, there fore no free will.

Maybe there isnt and you follow a predetermined path. Or there is and you freely choose shit but god already knows what you will choose. You'll never find the answer to that one.

well in that case we are doomed to heaven/hell from the day we are born?

EDIT: you realize you just made life itself redundant right? and "free will" nothing but a mere illusion? not to mention stating that if im a total cunt to everyone, god put me here to be so?
