How about Caddyshack? Top list, but a few too many action movies. The 80's had some brilliant comedies too.

I'm so happy no one mentioned the goonies.

Thank you.

But. I am disheartened that The Lost Boys didn't make the list. Keiffer Sutherland at his best, IMO.

"No Empire Strikes back because A New Hope was made in the 70's, and in my opinion, the best of the original trilogy."

Very few people would agree with you there. Also, ESB kicks the living shit out of everything on this list.

not to mention 80s had some classic "teen" movies.... Ferris Bueller's day off is the obvious one.

"'No Empire Strikes back because A New Hope was made in the 70's, and in my opinion, the best of the original trilogy."

No fucking way, The Empire Strikes Back is the best of all Star Wars movies.

"National Lampoons"

Alright, now you've done it. Go wash your mouth with soap because the fact that you've mentioned National Lampoon's in respect to a 'best of' list is unforgivable.

In fact, even though I did agree to a large extent with your original list, I now understand it was a fluke and you have no understanding of movies what so ever, because no one in his right mind would ever consider any National Lampoon's flick eligible for a top 10 spot unless it was the top ten of the worst movies ever.

"The Terminator never got wenches thrown to him as a gift for killing someone in a death pit. Terminator was terminated by a waitress. Terminator failed, simple as that"

That's an odd way to judge a movie. But wait. You American by any chance? Then I can understand.

@Immaculate1

My Original list was about 25 movies long, and I had to cut it down to 10, so as far as being the list being a fluke...I doubt that. Return Of the Jedi was on the list, but never made the top 10. I never really got into Starwars. The reason why I like A New Hope better is because of the stormtrooper that bonks his head, funny little goof. The movies were ok, but im not a fanatic. The thing with Starwars is, if I didnt mention it, the fan boys would jumps all over me. If I did mention it, all the other would call me a fan boy...

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation is pretty much a traditional Christmas movie, right about the same level with A Christmas Story(you'll shoot your eye out) which of course is another 80s movie. You dont even have to be a National Lampoon fan to like Christmas Vacation. I wouldn't put it in my top 10 list, but at bare minimun, it deserves to be acknolodged.

Canadian, not American by the way.

^^ Yeah, like I said, you got a weird way to judge movies. I must have seen the movie a hundred times before I even learned of the little blooper through some website.

"but at bare minimun, it deserves to be acknolodged.'

Well, maybe it's just my bad taste, but I think everything National Lampoon ever brought forward is utter garbage. Only that Lethal Weapon spoof with Emilio Estevez is slightly watchable.

"Canadian, not American by the way."

^ Oh well, close enough.

80's if anything was a brilliant era for movies, yes there was a lot of tripe in that decade too but hell there was so many classics to mention, the 90's is a close second for movies in which I'm sure shoutwire will have a "90's" week also at some stage.

P.S why isn't this blog/editorial listed on the front page because it is a good topic which deserves to be listed along with the other 80's stuff.
