The ps3 is a better console, no doubt about it, but the difference is only significant if they are a similar price, which they are not, ps3 is not worth the extra cash, end of.

That said this has been the ONLY game that has tempted me to get a console, my rig nails the both of them on capabilities but i just dont know if i can wait the customary 6 fucking months for r* to get they're arses in gear and release the pc version. Wankers.

360 is more expensive if you take into account the accessories that are basically required to make it worth anything. Like the Hard Drive, Intercooler, NextGen Disk player, and other crap you need. I don't remember what all there is, because I don't have one, and don't care to, but I remember there being a lot of shit at the stores that were pretty expensive, and that made me wonder if anyone notices how much that boosted the price above PS3

Personally I think the Xbox 360 has a better line-up of games at the moment, wether that will change over the next few years we'll have to see plus it depends if the best games are exclusive to one platform or released on all platforms. I think the xbox 360 will see maybe another 2-3 years before Microsoft release their next-next generation console which by that time I think it will be due time as gfx especially on the pc will have advanced a helluva lot more than what we have now, didn't the original Xbox only have a 5 year lifespan which I think is good enough for a console, technology has to move forward. I don't own any console btw though my 7 yr old daughter has a wii (which I'm loving Mario Kart Wii Online atm funnest online game I ever played) other than that I game on a high end pc.

@ds22

"^ There always is... half a year later!'

Unfortunately, no, not always. Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories were console only. Same for Call Of Duty 3.

1. Liberty City stories and Vice city stories are PSP games, not console games. They did get ported from the portable to consoles, though.

2. There are many branches of Rockstar, the branch that creates the major GTA hits are Rockstar North, which created GTA III, VC and San andreas. Every single hit was ported to the PC. Liberty city stories and Vice City stores are produced by Rockstar Leeds. They never ported a game to the PC.

3. Call of Duty 3 is not even a Rockstar game. Hell many don't even consider it a real call of duty because it was not made by the original creators of COD, Infinity games. Infinity created COD4 and went back to the PC.

But yea, ds22 is right. Every traditional major GTA game was on the PC some 6-8 months after the Console debut.

Wow! Simply wow! I didn't know a comprehensive study of game developers was necessary to understand that I can't run a game on my pc.

All your reasons are moot.

1 - The PSP sure IS a console. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Portable

2 - What the fuck does it matter which branch of Rockstar makes the game? They're all the same company ruled by the same board of directors and the same CEO.

3 - I didn't know our examples where limited to Rockstar only games, sorry, my bad. But again, it was a decision made by the mother company, the copyright holder of the entire COD franchise and not that particular division you mention.

So no, ds22 was not right, those two 'City Stories' episodes count just as much as any other GTA game. Vice City and San Andreas where also only EPISODES of GTA3 and not a 'major' new version.

It wasn't a comprehensive study, games are a serious business! I happen to like GTA games, its one of my favorite getaway games after a tiring day. In fact I like sandbox games in general. Since I only play on the PC, I happen to have been part of a "Will GTA IV come to PC thread" that spanned 300 pages.

After reading most of that over many months, you do get to know a few things about developers.

Anyhow, let me rephrase. GTA Liberty city stories and vice city stories are not MAJOR HOME CONSOLE iterations of the GTA universe, they are portable spin offs based on major episodes of the Home consoles.

If Rockstar leeds made only VCS and LCS, and never ported to the PC I would call that a trend. If Rockstar North made major Home console hits like GTA III, VC and SA, then I would also call that a trend. Based on that, Rockstar North, if it should follow its own trend, should announce a PC version within 1-2 months after the console release, and release it within 6-8 months. ;)

I see. And have they announced a pc version of GTA 4 already?

I know game studios have the habit to announce games in development, but I haven't heard anything definite yet from Rockstar about a GTA 4 port to the pc so that's why I fear(ed) the worst.

When GTA III, GTA VC and San Andreas came to the consoles, the PC version was announced 1 month AFTER their release on their consoles. So far Rockstar is following its trends.

If they don't announce it within 2-3 months, then I would be worried it would never make it to the PC.

They are doing this deliberately to maximize the number of people that crossover to the console and buy a console. It all comes down to $$$. And it appears that if they don't release a PC version they most definitely will lose money, a lot of it IMO.
