Someone Should Have Assassinated Bush

There was a time, not too long ago, when I was a staunch supporter of the American way. Yes, I admit it; I was one of the flag-waving idiots who blindly pledged their support after seeing what I believed to be a foreign entity smash a couple of buildings and kill thousands of my fellow countrymen. Doom on me. However, I wasn’t alone.

I, like millions of others, was suffering from a disease called “Patriotism”. We were the unknowing victims of propaganda. Extreme thoughts began to come to the forefront of everyday conversation. “Let’s annex Mexico and Canada, nuke the Middle East, and build a wall around our borders!’ Otherwise civil and intelligent people were making crazy proposals. The brainwashing of the American people was very nearly a complete success.

It was wrong. It was all wrong.

It is funny how hindsight is always 20/20. In the days after 9-11 our country became a plethora of raving lunatics. Not only were we pledging support to our monkey of a commander, but we were also giving our money without question to anyone on the street corner with a fireman’s boot and a sign. We proudly sent our young soldiers halfway across the world to die in the desert in the name of all that was red, white, and blue.

Somehow we ended up in Iraq. “A few weeks,” they said, “and we will leave the banks of the Tigris and Euphrates triumphant!” They promised us we would not have another Vietnam on our hands. For a short period of time, a lot of us forgot that politicians lie. We were still drunk from the fear and anger of 9-11. “Kill them all!” we screamed, while stumbling around looking for a couch to call home. The hangover would rear its ugly head all too soon.

The Patriot act. “In order to protect freedom we must take it away!” With that, George W. Bush became our dictator, whether we liked it or not. Sure, it was supposed to be repealed as soon as we were out of danger, but the people who created it knew something we didn’t; we would never be out of danger. There will always be someone who hates us. If not, they could always make someone up.

Abu Ghraib. They say a picture is worth a thousand words; well, these pictures were worth millions of them. We were no longer liberators in the eyes of the world; instead we had become worse than the ravenous dogs we replaced. No self-respecting American could see those pictures and still hold his head high. The patriotism party had officially ended. “Welcome to the Republic”, the signposts read.

It didn’t stop there. For a while, it seemed as if every other week we were learning some new and interesting fact. Bush had a domestic spying program, Cheney was trigger happy, and Michael Moore ate too many big Macs. If one did not know better, one might have thought civil war was imminent. However, change was not to come. Bush stole his second election in four years as Americans carelessly watched football and drank beer.

Now we find ourselves at the end of 2006. A nuclear war with North Korea looms in the not so distant future. Our way of life is about to end. Our train has just about reached its station. Those of us who are spared will be left to defend what once was a really good idea that turned foul in the blink of an eye.

This is the land in which we killed Kennedy but let Bush live. For that alone we deserve to burn.

Note: I have no intention to do any harm to Bush. However, I would like to see him get kicked in the ass.

"Hell, we killed Kennedy but we let Bush live. For that alone we deserve to burn."

I'm afraid i agree. Kennedy was probably your best presidents and Bush the worst. Then again having an honest person as president is a bad idea in a country ruled by corporations.

Great editorial btw

It's funny how all of the liberal scum come out on a liberal forum.

The fact is, if indeed everyone believed as you do, that Bush is useless and a murderer, he would not be president. You can argue that "he did not win the popular vote blah blah blah", but it was so close that it doesn't really matter.

While nobody thinks Bush is a good president, and many people including me think that we probably should have elected someone else, the fact is that it's really easy to blame America's problems on the president. Democrats have never had a good idea for Iraq (except "let's leave!", which would plunge that country into civil war), Democrats don't have a good idea for the economy (which, by the way, is doing spectacular: the Dow hit a new high the other day), Democrats don't have a good idea for North Korea (or at least none of them have said anything about it, except "nothing happened in the Clinton era..."). I'm not saying I love everything that Bush does, but at least I'm smart enough to see through the liberal crap that everything in the world is one man's fault.

I'm interested to see if anyone has a civilized response for this.

What we see happening in America right now is simply the fear of the old guard losing power. There is a huge separation of thought from those who birthed the baby boomers and today's average thoughts on foreign AND domestic policy. The gap between the wealthy and the not so is widening faster than it ever has before. This erratic movement of money looks like greed, but it is simply fear. The average youth of America, the world, just needs to realize the power and fear they hold over their government. It sounds kind of silly but the ideas like VH1, MySpace and others, encouraging voting and doing something in your communities are the tip of the iceberg. These small victories will give folks a taste for the power of change and hopefully seek more. That's when the revolution will start. Are your rogue pirate ninjas ready?

Nice editorial.

While Zero has many good points, zachlac has a couple as well: "The fact is, if indeed everyone believed as you do, that Bush is useless and a murderer, he would not be president."

The people are to blame, for taking freedom and leniency for granted. If nuclear war comes, the world deserves it for sitting around doing nothing.

Sure, the government is run by corrupt official, secret government organizations do cover ups, and we lost basically all of our rights this past Tuesday. But if no one cares, then they deserve the death that will come to them.

I'll give it a go to give zachlac a "civilized response", even though, he/she found it perfectly acceptable to start out the post with "liberal scum" without qualifying that statement in any way.

Bush was voted into office, even though many, including parties within the UN find that highly suspect. He also suffers one of the worst approval ratings of any president (and please don't compare him to Lincoln because Lincoln surrounded himself with people who disagreed with him, along with a million other reasons).

Next, to say that Clinton did nothing is ridiculous. Clinton nearly bombed North Korea when it began pursuing uranium enrichment, and it was only when Carter intervened that we reached an agreement that was completely ignored by the Bush administration. Kim Jung II, as everyone knows is a psycho and craves attention, ignoring him only made things worse.

The most backwards logic that I see in the Bush administration, as Xxoozero points out is to protect freedom by taking it away in a war with no realistic goals.

Any military leader will tell you that a huge blunder in any war is to not set and achieve realistic military objectives. I have yet to see any realistic objectives or timeline for a war on a concept (terror).

Obviously, we have to defend and fight against terrorists, but questioning the method is perfectly legitimate and should be welcomed.

FidoMeet Joe Sixpack
Howdy everybody, Joe Sixpack here. I never met you all before, but I was having some pops last night with my bud Fido and he said if I wrote this down, he’d fix up the spellun’ and put it on the internet. He’s mostly full of shit, but I did it anyway. This is about Thursday night. The wife had the kids at football practice and going by her sister’s and I was home tipping back some cold ones and looking for something to watch on TV. I seen the debate thing was on b...

As we know, everyone in Washington DC are assholes of varying degree. Last week we called Sarah Palin out for being a dumb cunt and an asshole. And that's coming from me. If you're actually voting for Palin, people named cadpig, you're a dumb asshole enabler. Palin is worthless and would have the US on a road to destruction that would involve hurting our allies too. What's even more disturbing than people who watched Palin on Katie Couric wanting to vote for her ...
