How to Make a Sparkler BombIn spirit of July 4th I have decided to enlighten the crowd here at Shoutwire with some knowledge passed down through my family for generations. Okay, so maybe it just came from my older brother but knowledge is knowledge all the same. Today I will go over everything anyone needs to know about making a sparkler bomb but first the disclaimer:
WARNING If you do not have common sense, do not read any further. I am not responsible for any injury this may cause but let me tell you that I have not been injured nor have any of my friends been injured and we have been doing these for years. Your neighbors may call the cops if you do this correctly. I blow all of my stuff up right in my backyard so that I can quickly run inside the garage without being seen.
WHAT YOU WILL NEEDThe smallest bomb that still sounds as loud as a gunshot is one with 18 sparklers (3 packs). Usually I purchase about 35-40 packs a year and progressively make larger bombs as the night goes on. Make sure the sparklers are the metal kind. They are the only kind I have ever used so I cannot guarantee if the wood ones work (I am using the wood ones for the first time in this picture guide.) You will also need electrical tape. I would say one roll lasts about 2 bombs but the stuff is cheap and easy to find. This is the best tape and the reason why will be explained later. You will also need half of a brain and a lighter.
MAKING THE BOMB
Cut off all of the ends that are used to hold the sparklers. Leave about a half inch so that you can use it to stick it in the ground.

Take your sparklers and hold them together. Select a sparkler in the center of the pack and pull it about 2 and a half inches above the rest. Make sure you leave enough sparkler above the pack that you can light it and have enough time to run. Also make sure that there is still about an inch of sparkler left below the level of the pack of sparklers so that the fire can ignite the rest.

Grab your electrical tape and wrap it one time starting at the top. Then wrap it all the way down without tearing any pieces. This first wrap of tape does not need to be tight. All it has to do is create a nice cocoon for the sparklers.

Proceed to wrap up and down a total of 8-10 times with the electrical tape but wrap tighter than the first layer. Stretch the tape before you wrap tightly.

Make sure you do not break the top sparkler because that is your fuse. When wrapping, do not cover the whole top but make sure to have an air-tight bottom. It will not work if there is tape touching your fuse sparkler and will only give you a fountain instead of the desired BOOM! The explosion should have no where to go but through a small hole at the top.

Now that you’re finished wrapping it 8-10 times, this is what it should look like

I had to go and fix it because I got a little too close with the tape at the top of this bomb.
BLOWING IT UPStick it in the ground for best effect. If it won’t stand up, it’s okay. Light the fuse sparkler, run, and wait. The video of the bomb I made in the pictures was poor quality so here is a bomb I did a two summers ago. The boom is at the end and I apologize in advance for my little brother’s voice lol.
There you have it. Hopefully you still have all of your fingers and you aren’t being picked up by the cops. Have fun and be safe because July 4th just got a little more dangerous. Now you know how to make a sparkler bomb.
