Ron Paul – now there’s a name I’ll bet you haven’t heard in a while.

Last November, I decided to take a look at Ron Paul’s platform and post the results in an editorial. I titled it “Ron Paul Will Never Be President.” The result? A massive flaming campaign was directed at the editorial. It received wave after wave of bashes and angry comments from delusional Paulites. “He’s America’s only hope,” they said. They also said that because I disagree with Ron Paul, I must hate freedom and love George Bush. You have to love the hypocrisy.

Nonetheless, after re-reading some of the comments in the above linked editorial, I thought that it was high time to rub my prediction in peoples’ faces. Not only will Ron Paul not be president, but he made a piss-poor showing. The millions of fanatics who spammed websites and message boards, the people who wasted hours inflating poll statistics, and the people who swore up and down that they would register Republican to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries were totally and utterly full of shit.

I’ll even offer another little tidbit: Ron Paul failed not because he was poorly treated by the media, or because he wasn’t given a fair shake during debates (though both those statements are true). He failed because his policies come off as batshit insane. Maybe if he didn’t make outlandish promises, like abolishing the Federal Reserve or the CIA, he may have gotten somewhere. The thing is, people hear shit like that and immediately write him off as a babbling loon.

One cannot suggest that such radical changes be implemented. People hate change. In order to change the system to the extent that Ron Paul suggested, those changes would have to be implemented gradually, over a long period of time. That, or the changes would have to have remarkable advantages over the current system. Ol’ Ronnie should have just kept his mouth shut about his more radical plans – maybe then he’d have had a fighting chance.

So, like the dancing baby, Chuck Norris and Bert Is Evil, Ron Paul has had his 15 minutes of internet fame. He can now safely be locked away in the Vault of Forgotten Internet Fads forever.

Who cares about Ron Paul, he was a loser before, a loser now and nobody expected him to ever ever win except for those dim witted people out there.

Thanks Bulshoy.
I at least don't like shoving things down people's throats unless it's the right time and place.

You have to remember that when someone takes a side, they are generally watching for negativity towards their position, but they tend to overlook the negativity coming from their position.

In this case, as someone who is interested in Paul's campaign, I see all the negative comments thrown at him and his supporters, and I can understand why people get so up in the tits, because they don't like seeing their candidate insulted.

Yeah, there was a lot of Ron Paul spamming going on, and of course, like anything en mass, there's always people whose enthusiasm tends to make them look like tools, but there was also a lot of anger and snide comments made against him.

I'm not American. I have very little to gain from the election. Actually Ron Paul is the only candidate willing to take on the NAU, or at least get people noticing what's going on under the radar.
As a Canadian, I've got no desire to be hooked up with the US and Mexico any more than we are currently. In this, I'm merely an observer/ sideline flag waiver.

What bothers me the most is the way idiots like dic2584 above me love to interject malicious statements without having any clue on just how hypocritically retarded they might be.

The media's blackout is disturbing.
Youtube censorship is still continuing, as is google, and all of the major news outlets online, offline, in print and on tv. Most people are surprised to learn he's still in the race.

You might not agree with his positions or policies, but you should at least recognize the rules of fair play, and wonder why a candidate people consider so far from the front running is still being blacklisted.

It doesn't matter if it's Nader, Kuccinich, Clinton, McCain, or Paul. The fact is this person is participating in a democratic contest, and deserves the exact same treatment and coverage as anyone else.

Why is Paul's message so scary to the mainstream that they'd blatantly bury it?

Is it because of his ire towards the federal reserve?

Is it his non favouritist policy towards Israel?

Is it because he scares the fuck out of a system that is designed to keep perpetuating a goal that undermines common people to keep the suits in charge in charge?

I don't actually care about the insults towards him. I would suggest people read his new book (#1 on Amazon and the NY Times bestseller list) before they slander him. Take a good look at the message he spreads before you think to put him down. He's a smart guy with a solid reputation of standing by his values. I personally think those traits alone are rare nowadays and like seeing people who still have the courage to speak for what they believe.

@bulshoy

You are right again. America isn't ready for the federal government to actually follow the constitution. No matter that it has been effictivly used as butt-wipe, as long as my "party" wins!
We like the pro-wrestling tactics of the "two party" system...I mean oligarchy.
Yes sir. The constitution is CRAZY!!
Just so the rest of you know, no where, I say NO WHERE in the constitution does it say that we have to deal with a two-party system. In fact it was never meant to be that way.

Quoting a dim witted person who was afraid Ron Paul was going to win.

Ron Paul is a winner! Because he stands up for his beliefs, and gets in front of the mass public. He doesn't throw blatant lies to the media that he went on a "foreign relations" trip emerging from his flight under "sniper fire." Someday truth and honesty will win an American election and Ron Paul was the start.

FidoQuick Take On The RNC
Being an open minded individual, I decided to spend a couple hours watching the Republican national convention in St Paul, or Minneapolis, Minnesota, or wherever it is. I had initially tuned in to watch Sarah Palin’s address, in order to maybe get a read on what she may be all about. I regret that I couldn’t get that far. After viewing Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani speak to the delegates, I felt an overwhelming need to seek asylum in another country. ...
