I locked myself out of my car the other day. Anyone who has done this has realized it's a very terrible scenario to be in. 8 Things came to mind when it happened, and after I got the 7 swear words out of the way, I thought of other bad scenarios that no one wants to be in. I eventually got an extra key and got in, but I still kept those scenarios I thought up in mind and searched around the internet for some books and information later on. And here is what I found:

Escape from a Sinking Vehicle

We’ve all in the movies where the good guy will karate chop a car window under water and swim out with dramatic absurdity, but in real life it isn’t as simple as all that.

When you first hit the water, open your windows as fast as you can. Opening your doors under water is extremely difficult because of the pressure of the surrounding water.

Opening the windows will let the water in to equalize the pressure so when under water you're able to open the doors. If you get the windows down all the way, you can simply jump out and not wait, but I’m trying to give consideration to the other people you may or may not have in the car.

If opening the window fails, try to break the window by kicking it or using a blunt object. I’d recommend using an emergency window breaking device they sell at many stores.

When you're around a river, lake, or bigger body of water, I recommend having the window cracked for just this type of incident.

How to Defend Against a Shark Attack

For me, sharks are one of my most feared creatures on Earth. This fact doesn’t mean we're powerless against them. This is why evolution gave us that brain of ours.

There are 3 types of shark attacks: Hit and Run, Bump and Bite, and Sneak Attacks.

Hit and Run is when the shark does exactly that, hit and run. It usually happens near the shore where the shark will swoop in for a bite then swim off.

Bump and Bite is when the shark is kind of circling the victim and bumping them a few times before the initial attack.

Sneak Attacks are the most severe. The shark will attack multiple times and inflict severe damage.
Now, you don’t just have to float there and take all of the attacks, there are ways to fight back and get back to shore safely.

First off, when you're in the ocean you should be aware of where you’re at and what is around you. No one should go in the ocean with out prior knowledge of the dangers that lay beneath.

If you see a shark approaching you, you can hit back. Take something you may have on you in the water and hit them in quick jabs to the eyes or the gills. The nose is a common mistake when going for a hit because it isn’t very sensitive; the shark will just keep coming. Sharks will attack knowing they'll have the advantage of the situation. If you give them reasons to doubt that advantage, they may just give up and go for a weaker target. Hopefully some little kid who messed with a sand castle you built earlier in the day.

How to Win a Random Sword Fight

This is also a big movie fixture. A random guy will be attacked with a sword and some how, with out any training, fend off the attack of a professional. It’s not that easy if you’ve never fenced a day in your life.

First you have to hold the sword in the “ready” position. Hold the sword it both hands perpendicular with the ground. This makes it easy to move the sword in any direction. Keep the tip of the sword pointed at your opponent slightly.

Deflecting and Counter Attacking

First, step in to the attack with your arms held against your body. Don’t back away like your instincts tell you, instead move closer and cut off the attacks power. Don’t just respond to the attack with defense, punch your sword in to theirs instead of just absorbing all the force. Avoid extending your arms to much, it will weaken your defense and take away more of your energy.

Step up and into the blow, with your arms held against your body. React quickly and against your instincts, which will tell you to move back and a way. By moving closer, you can cut off a blows power. Avoid extending your arms; it makes your counter-blow less powerful. If the attack is aimed at your head, move the sword parallel to the ground and above your head. Try to block with the center of your sword and not the end of your sword or closer to your hands.

Attacking

Move the sword in steady, quick blows up and down and to the left and right. Assuming you must disable your attacker, do not try to stab with your sword. A stabbing motion will put you off balance and will leave your sword far out in front of you, making you vulnerable to a counter-blow. Do not raise the sword up behind your head to try a huge blow—you will end up with a sword in your gut. Hold your position, punch out to defend, and strike quickly. Wait for your attacker to make a mistake. Stepping into a blow or deflecting it to the side will put him/her off balance. Once your opponent is off balance, you can take advantage of their moment of weakness by landing a disabling blow, remembering not to jab with your sword but to strike up and down or from side to side.

Parachute Failure

Every time I think about how cool it would be to jump off a plane, an equal if not stronger feeling of fear hits me when the thought of the parachute failing hits. I spent a night looking around the internet looking for ways to maybe combat the failure. Here is what I read:

So the parachute fails to open, what do you do? No one normally parachutes alone; they normally go with a partner or a group. When your chute fails, signal and try to get the attention of your friend by waving your hands enough to get his attention. When you get his attention point at your chute aggressively to show you’re in distress. He will soon glide to you and hook arms with you so you are falling together.

Now you're both falling at 130 mph or terminal velocity as they call it. Not that terrible movie with Charlie Sheen your friend with bad taste showed you. When he opens the chute, simply holding on to him will not work; you will fall off him quicker than an American Idol runner up gets dropped from a record contract. What you do is hook your arms on through his chest strap up to your elbows and once through grab on to your own chest strap to make for maximum hold. Once the chute opens you will not be in the clear. The G force will quadruple your body weight and probably dislocate or break your arms. Better than every other bone right?

Now that you’re incapacitated, your new savior will have to hold on to you while also steering the canopy to the ground safely. Depending on the size of the canopy, the landing could be quite different. If the canopy is big and slow, it will possibly just cause a broken leg due to the extra weight of you both, but if it is a fast one, it gets tricky. You both would do well in trying to avoid power lines and other painful things in the way.

It would be best to try and find something for soft to land on. A water landing would best ensure you don’t have a limp for a while and you should try to land there. Tread the water with your legs during the landing and once finally in the water your friend will have to pull you out before the chute starts to take on water which would also be very bad.

The most important thing is to make sure your chute is fit for jumping. Unlike Looney Tunes cartoons, silverware doesn’t come out of the bag, but a tangled and poorly set up chute could, or nothing will come out at all. If you’re an expert in jumping, you will probably know how to maintain your chute. If not, ask someone who is and they will ensure the best jump possible.

I had a chute failure one time. You gotta cut the chute that failed and then try the emergency one.

If that one fails, you can try and fit it, but you're most likely fuuuuucked.

This sentence made me laugh, because I got the impression you were being serious.

Wow, I really like this! I was recently posting a similiar sort of question on the yahoo question boards - maybe you could put in the next one, or additional scenarios to this.
My summer job is treeplanting, so i'm out in the wildneress for months at a time in the summer. I'll be planting in the southern interior of British Columbia, Canada. So if I were to encounter a Grizzly Bear, whats my best course of action. All i'll likely to have on me is what i'm wearing + planting shovel + planting bags. I won't be carrying around any dead weight like bear mace, or guns, etc.
Currently the strategy would be to make a stand and take a swing if it charged haha

Hmmm, how about if you're locked in your car, it falls out of an airplane over the ocean and there's an angry Samurai warrior in the back seat?

On my next one I will have a grizzly bear one and possibly a mountain lion one. Running away won't work because grizzly bears can haul ass.

My good friend Glock will save you in all those situations, well except the parachute one.

Ok, ladies, and some of you gents, this is for you.At some point in time EVERY guy has cum too soon. And it IS because he has a problem; over stimulation.Next to basement dwellers, married men have one of the worst sex lives. For married men it's a case of familiarity breeding contempt. For the basement dwellers, it's just lack of social skills and the sight of real live boobs.Women, if a guy cums quickly, it's a sign that he's very anxious to rock your thigh clam a...
