I have heard more about Ron Paul in the last two months than I’ve heard about any politician in my whole life. Everyone seems to be jumping on the bandwagon, not because they love his policies, but because it’s the cool thing to do.

Everyone hears about his fundraising, his love of America and the constitution, but has anyone bothered to actually look into his platform? I have, and I’ve compiled a list of Ron Paul’s poison pills. Here they are.

Home Schooling

“My commitment to ensuring home schooling remains a practical alternative for American families is unmatched by any Presidential candidate.”

I’m glad that he thinks parents are smart enough to teach their kids all that is necessary to lead productive and happy lives. Back here in reality though, parents are often less intelligent than their own kids. It’d be like the blind leading the blind, ffs. There’s just so much to mock here that I can’t even decide what to write. Let’s just say that home schooling is a retarded idea, and that the money that Ron Paul plans to waste on this would be better spent improving public schools, where professional teachers can teach a proper curriculum.

“I am committed to guaranteeing parity for home school diplomas and advancing equal scholarship consideration for students entering college from a home school environment.”

Ahahahahaha! Is this guy for real? So if my redneck Grade 6 dropout Dad home schooled me, my “diploma” would be just as valid as someone who went to an actual school? What can you even say to that?

Foreign Policy

“Under no circumstances should the U.S. again go to war as the result of a resolution that comes from an unelected, foreign body, such as the United Nations.”

When has that happened? Usually the US just marches off to war WITHOUT a UN mandate.

There aren’t many quotables in here, as he manages to say a lot without saying anything at all. I gather though that he wants to pull American troops out of, well, everywhere but America. Admirable. I’ve no beef with that.

Liberties

“I am also the prime sponsor of HR 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v Wade by removing the ability of federal courts to interfere with state legislation to protect life. This is a practical, direct approach to ending federal court tyranny which threatens our constitutional republic and has caused the deaths of 45 million of the unborn.”

That’ll get you a lot of votes from the ladies. He has torpedoed any hope of becoming president with this one statement. Good job, Ronnie.

Sovereignty

“NAFTA’s superhighway is just one part of a plan to erase the borders between the U.S. and Mexico, called the North American Union.”

Even Ron Paul isn’t beyond fear mongering. Despite what ShoutWire’s paranoid bunker-dwelling nutcases keep repeating, the chance of a North American Union becoming a reality is nil. Oh my God, not a highway! We’re DOOMED!!

Guns

“H.R. 1897 would end the ban on carrying a firearm in the National Park System, restoring Americans’ ability to protect themselves in potentially hazardous situations.”

Yeah because you need to have a gun in a national park. Why the hell is this such a big deal?

“H.R. 1096 includes provisions repealing the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act and the Federal Firearms License Reform Act of 1993, two invasive and unconstitutional bills.”

Of course! Making someone wait 5 days before they buy and handgun is a ridiculously oppressive law isn’t it? Dumbass.

I will never understand why Americans would fight so hard for the right to carry around weapons with them. Are you so afraid of your fellow countrymen that you can’t fathom leaving home without a weapon? Sad.

“I also recently opposed H.R. 2640, which would allow government-appointed psychiatrists to ban U.S. veterans experiencing even mild forms of Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome from ever owning a gun.”

This statement is so stupid that I won’t even dignify it with a response.

All of the above was pulled directly from Ron Paul’s site. I didn’t want to address other things that I’ve heard about Ron Paul (his plan to disband the IRS, his supposed support of white supremacy, etc).

I’ll end this by offering up a couple of predictions:

- Ron Paul will never be president, despite the support of millions of non-voters on the internet.

- People will start experiencing “Ron Paul Fatigue” from the endless stream of non-news Ron Paul-related articles on the internet.

I couldn’t possibly predict who the next US president will be, but I can tell you who it WON’T be – Ron Paul.

@FrostyMug

You should understand what a "Republic" is. You're thinking "multi-republic state" of what you believe America should be.

The problem with this editorial is that you take some of these things out of context or exaggerate them. I see it everywhere. That is what makes people pissed off about the article.
You misunderstand his message. Dig deeper, and good luck. He is the best choice for this country, that is why we spam you. muahaha!

Home schooling:

Homeschooled students still have to write the exams. This isn't out of line with our other educational practices. In Canada for instance, 'mature students' (ie 20 y/o+) don't even have to do the courses, they can just challenge the exams to get into college.

If you can pass the tests, then you know the stuff. I fail to see a problem.

I like how everyone has become psuedo-analysts, scrutinizing every single word, context, turn of phrase, spacing, etc. in his post.. and out of all the Ron Paul Posts that have been spammed in the past week.. THIS one is the most active, on it's way well to having the most comments.

It's like someone said.. As long as you're fellating Ron Paul, it's all about freedom! A return to American values! Free Speech! Constitutional Rights for everyone! Happy days are here again!

But the second you utter a single word in opposition, these so-called enlightened 'new-republicans' (because most of them damn sure werent 'conservatives' before they fell on the Ron Paul bandwagon), degenerate quickly and immediately into insults and personal attacks on you, but cant even adequately explain why they so vehemently support this candidate.

Oh well. I'm curious what shoutwire will be like in a year when everyone turns away from the bush bashing to begin the requisite 4+ years of Hilary bashing, that seems to be the proper traditional treatment of our nation's leader these days.

Hey Bulshoy, go worry about your own country and leave us to our own politics in America! We don't need the likes of you Canadians telling us who we should vote for. If you don't like Ron Paul you had better shut up because his name won't be going away from Shoutwire any time soon and your opinion is not going to change the minds of Ron Paul supporters.

You can't just lie like that bud. I live in Canada, and NOBODY carries a gun unless they are hunting. Pistols and such are restricted weapons. You can carry them to exactly two places - to the firing range, and home from the firing range.

As a fellow Canadian I must say you've led a sheltered life. You should have said Nobody is supposed to carry guns unless hunting. If gun owners own land in the country and decide to blast a few rounds off with their buddies, they just don't tell anyone outside of their circle of friends. That's the Canadian version of the right to bear arms; Don't blab and watch out for rats!

I was around, and a happy gun owner back before all the Gun Control bullshit and guess what! There weren't people running around killing people to any greater degree than now. The only reason for the greater amount of murders and mayhem in the US is population. they have a lot more people crammed into huge cities than in other countries like ours. Just look at where most of the major gun crimes, gang related killing occurs in Canada. In the big cities and heavier populate Provinces. It's not that Canadians don't want guns or the right to bear arms. It's that our Socialist Leaders don't want us to have guns or the right to bear arms. Exceptions beings pussies and women who are afraid of guns and defending themselves and want to take everybody else's choice away because of their cowardice.
