I have heard more about Ron Paul in the last two months than I’ve heard about any politician in my whole life. Everyone seems to be jumping on the bandwagon, not because they love his policies, but because it’s the cool thing to do.

Everyone hears about his fundraising, his love of America and the constitution, but has anyone bothered to actually look into his platform? I have, and I’ve compiled a list of Ron Paul’s poison pills. Here they are.

Home Schooling

“My commitment to ensuring home schooling remains a practical alternative for American families is unmatched by any Presidential candidate.”

I’m glad that he thinks parents are smart enough to teach their kids all that is necessary to lead productive and happy lives. Back here in reality though, parents are often less intelligent than their own kids. It’d be like the blind leading the blind, ffs. There’s just so much to mock here that I can’t even decide what to write. Let’s just say that home schooling is a retarded idea, and that the money that Ron Paul plans to waste on this would be better spent improving public schools, where professional teachers can teach a proper curriculum.

“I am committed to guaranteeing parity for home school diplomas and advancing equal scholarship consideration for students entering college from a home school environment.”

Ahahahahaha! Is this guy for real? So if my redneck Grade 6 dropout Dad home schooled me, my “diploma” would be just as valid as someone who went to an actual school? What can you even say to that?

Foreign Policy

“Under no circumstances should the U.S. again go to war as the result of a resolution that comes from an unelected, foreign body, such as the United Nations.”

When has that happened? Usually the US just marches off to war WITHOUT a UN mandate.

There aren’t many quotables in here, as he manages to say a lot without saying anything at all. I gather though that he wants to pull American troops out of, well, everywhere but America. Admirable. I’ve no beef with that.

Liberties

“I am also the prime sponsor of HR 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v Wade by removing the ability of federal courts to interfere with state legislation to protect life. This is a practical, direct approach to ending federal court tyranny which threatens our constitutional republic and has caused the deaths of 45 million of the unborn.”

That’ll get you a lot of votes from the ladies. He has torpedoed any hope of becoming president with this one statement. Good job, Ronnie.

Sovereignty

“NAFTA’s superhighway is just one part of a plan to erase the borders between the U.S. and Mexico, called the North American Union.”

Even Ron Paul isn’t beyond fear mongering. Despite what ShoutWire’s paranoid bunker-dwelling nutcases keep repeating, the chance of a North American Union becoming a reality is nil. Oh my God, not a highway! We’re DOOMED!!

Guns

“H.R. 1897 would end the ban on carrying a firearm in the National Park System, restoring Americans’ ability to protect themselves in potentially hazardous situations.”

Yeah because you need to have a gun in a national park. Why the hell is this such a big deal?

“H.R. 1096 includes provisions repealing the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act and the Federal Firearms License Reform Act of 1993, two invasive and unconstitutional bills.”

Of course! Making someone wait 5 days before they buy and handgun is a ridiculously oppressive law isn’t it? Dumbass.

I will never understand why Americans would fight so hard for the right to carry around weapons with them. Are you so afraid of your fellow countrymen that you can’t fathom leaving home without a weapon? Sad.

“I also recently opposed H.R. 2640, which would allow government-appointed psychiatrists to ban U.S. veterans experiencing even mild forms of Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome from ever owning a gun.”

This statement is so stupid that I won’t even dignify it with a response.

All of the above was pulled directly from Ron Paul’s site. I didn’t want to address other things that I’ve heard about Ron Paul (his plan to disband the IRS, his supposed support of white supremacy, etc).

I’ll end this by offering up a couple of predictions:

- Ron Paul will never be president, despite the support of millions of non-voters on the internet.

- People will start experiencing “Ron Paul Fatigue” from the endless stream of non-news Ron Paul-related articles on the internet.

I couldn’t possibly predict who the next US president will be, but I can tell you who it WON’T be – Ron Paul.

Yeah, let's attack Ron Paul on his conservative stance on gun ownership, which is the same stance as most of the other candidates. Brilliant.

Out of ALL the people to single out you pick RON PAUL?

This man is a saint compared to the NUTJOBS that they are calling "frontrunners" or "top tier".. . . ie Neocons: Guiiani, Mitt, Clinton etc

You absolutely suck in my opinion; just someone who wants an argument and to get attention....

Ok, postpone your judgment until the end of this post. Thank you.

I believe that Ron Paul has some highly idealistic ideas that would NEVER work.

For example:

I believe that with the proper education (which isn't in place today) and the proper pay (ditto) a professional teacher is better than 90% of all parents. Face it, most parents are dumb, and that includes you.

I believe that he is offering what people want. Just like some religions...well...if not all of them. Now remember that "what you want" and what can be done is not connected in any way. I want a Dodge Viper. Can I get one? No, but I just bought a -05 Honda Jazz. BE REALISTIC!

A bit off topic, but I also believe that having someone grow up to be "one of the brightest people around"...in THE US, doesn't mean all that much anymore. You are a lost people.

Having said all of that, I WOULD STILL VOTE RON PAUL!
Why? Of all the horribly disgustingly bad candidates, he...is the least bad one.

That, sadly, is the position you are in now.
America is dead. Long live America.

I've never disagreed with bulshoy. So it's weird for me to see such a blatant hit piece on Ron Paul, the one candidate who agrees with most of America on having had enough of this war and the relentless fearmongering that has accompanied it since day 1.

I can't help but think that the only reason he picked Ron Paul was that he's simply tired of hearing about him, which is just a piss-poor reason to take such strong opposition to someone and single them out.

Inq also remember that home schooling can be done by a teacher. And home schooling is a lot more than the parents, it's books and curriculum. The parents are supposed to learn along with the kids... and that would be immensely productive and healthy, especially for the US.

-OK i wasn't going to reply to this guy, but it's just too easy.

-"Did you actually state a point here?"

-Yeah. My point was the Ron Paul isn't a God, the second coming of Jesus, or any of the other shit that you nuts would have people think. He's a politician. He's not beyond pulling something out of his ass and trying to make people fear it.

-"ou can't state an argument yet you quote him? I'll ignore you did that."

-Probably because the problem with his quote would be obvious to someone who's not...what's the word? Oh yeah, a retard.

-I'm sure that in your insane world, it's fine for people who have psychological issues to carry weapons. Glad I don't live there.

-"Banning guns only stops innocent people who follow the law, taking away the ban helps turn the tables on criminals"

-People in my country don't carry guns around. Guess what? There is no plague of gun-toting criminals running rampant. People still get shot here, but it's nowhere NEAR as common as in the US. I wonder why? Oh yeah, it's because our citizens don't walk around armed!

-"
-I'm at work, so I have to cut this short. At any rate, thanks for proving once again that there really is a smear campaign against Ron Paul and his supporters, and you've become part of it."

-I'm not part of a smear campaign. I just checked Ron Paul out to see what all the fuss is about. I gave my opinion. Is it no longer acceptable to give one's opinion about Ron Paul unless it is positive?

-You are becoming what you hate.

More people in Canada carry guns then in the united states, their right is protected there just as it is in america.

I am not a ron paul supporter, i actually like Barack Obama and am a democrat.

Stating a quote and expecting people to understand your point doesn't make us a retard, if you're preaching to the choir i can understand but you're not.

In regards to the boarders of mexico and USA, if he becomes president in the terms of the boarders he will have more power to do so, if i was for this, i would vote for him (and many are, so he will get those votes (not that i agree with this).

I understand you're looking to see what the fuss is about and nor am i stating that i am a professional writer (English isn't my best language) i really felt this article should have been written with less of a bias and more proven and historical facts.

Normally, I like your articles, but this one just focuses on what you think to be negative aspects, out of all the candidates, he is the best choice.

"More people in Canada carry guns then in the united states, their right is protected there just as it is in america."

You can't just lie like that bud. I live in Canada, and NOBODY carries a gun unless they are hunting. Pistols and such are restricted weapons. You can carry them to exactly two places - to the firing range, and home from the firing range.

"if you're preaching to the choir i can understand but you're not."

The man doesn't agree that people with psychological trauma related to violence shouldn't be given guns. I wouldn't have thought that further explanation was necessary.

"In regards to the boarders of Mexico and USA"

My point was that NAU is only an issue to the extremely paranoid. There's no way it's going to happen. It's a non-issue. I was trying to highlight that Ron Paul is not beyond playing to people's fears.

"i really felt this article should have been written with less of a bias and more proven and historical facts."

If it was written with less bias, then it wouldn't be an editorial.

@bulshoy

"remains a practical alternative"

^Did you miss that part?

"Ahahahahaha! Is this guy for real? So if my redneck Grade 6 dropout Dad home schooled me, my "diploma" would be just as valid as someone who went to an actual school? What can you even say to that?"

Exams would be monitored by an official examiner and grade given accordingly.

"When has that happened?"

Serbia '99 ?

"the chance of a North American Union becoming a reality is nil."

For your sake I hope your right.

"I will never understand why Americans would fight so hard for the right to carry around weapons with them. Are you so afraid of your fellow countrymen that you can't fathom leaving home without a weapon? Sad."

Crimes reduced since the new laws? Hmm? No?

"This statement is so stupid that I won't even dignify it with a response."

He's just clearing out stuff that the constitution does not support.

Bulshoy this is by far your worst editorial (if you can even call it that?), I would expect more from zero.
