I have heard more about Ron Paul in the last two months than I’ve heard about any politician in my whole life. Everyone seems to be jumping on the bandwagon, not because they love his policies, but because it’s the cool thing to do.
Everyone hears about his fundraising, his love of America and the constitution, but has anyone bothered to actually look into his platform? I have, and I’ve compiled a list of Ron Paul’s poison pills. Here they are.
Home Schooling
“My commitment to ensuring home schooling remains a practical alternative for American families is unmatched by any Presidential candidate.”
I’m glad that he thinks parents are smart enough to teach their kids all that is necessary to lead productive and happy lives. Back here in reality though, parents are often less intelligent than their own kids. It’d be like the blind leading the blind, ffs. There’s just so much to mock here that I can’t even decide what to write. Let’s just say that home schooling is a retarded idea, and that the money that Ron Paul plans to waste on this would be better spent improving public schools, where professional teachers can teach a proper curriculum.
“I am committed to guaranteeing parity for home school diplomas and advancing equal scholarship consideration for students entering college from a home school environment.”
Ahahahahaha! Is this guy for real? So if my redneck Grade 6 dropout Dad home schooled me, my “diploma” would be just as valid as someone who went to an actual school? What can you even say to that?
Foreign Policy
“Under no circumstances should the U.S. again go to war as the result of a resolution that comes from an unelected, foreign body, such as the United Nations.”
When has that happened? Usually the US just marches off to war WITHOUT a UN mandate.
There aren’t many quotables in here, as he manages to say a lot without saying anything at all. I gather though that he wants to pull American troops out of, well, everywhere but America. Admirable. I’ve no beef with that.
Liberties
“I am also the prime sponsor of HR 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v Wade by removing the ability of federal courts to interfere with state legislation to protect life. This is a practical, direct approach to ending federal court tyranny which threatens our constitutional republic and has caused the deaths of 45 million of the unborn.”
That’ll get you a lot of votes from the ladies. He has torpedoed any hope of becoming president with this one statement. Good job, Ronnie.
Sovereignty
“NAFTA’s superhighway is just one part of a plan to erase the borders between the U.S. and Mexico, called the North American Union.”
Even Ron Paul isn’t beyond fear mongering. Despite what ShoutWire’s paranoid bunker-dwelling nutcases keep repeating, the chance of a North American Union becoming a reality is nil. Oh my God, not a highway! We’re DOOMED!!
Guns
“H.R. 1897 would end the ban on carrying a firearm in the National Park System, restoring Americans’ ability to protect themselves in potentially hazardous situations.”
Yeah because you need to have a gun in a national park. Why the hell is this such a big deal?
“H.R. 1096 includes provisions repealing the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act and the Federal Firearms License Reform Act of 1993, two invasive and unconstitutional bills.”
Of course! Making someone wait 5 days before they buy and handgun is a ridiculously oppressive law isn’t it? Dumbass.
I will never understand why Americans would fight so hard for the right to carry around weapons with them. Are you so afraid of your fellow countrymen that you can’t fathom leaving home without a weapon? Sad.
“I also recently opposed H.R. 2640, which would allow government-appointed psychiatrists to ban U.S. veterans experiencing even mild forms of Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome from ever owning a gun.”
This statement is so stupid that I won’t even dignify it with a response.
All of the above was pulled directly from Ron Paul’s site. I didn’t want to address other things that I’ve heard about Ron Paul (his plan to disband the IRS, his supposed support of white supremacy, etc).
I’ll end this by offering up a couple of predictions:
- Ron Paul will never be president, despite the support of millions of non-voters on the internet.
- People will start experiencing “Ron Paul Fatigue” from the endless stream of non-news Ron Paul-related articles on the internet.
I couldn’t possibly predict who the next US president will be, but I can tell you who it WON’T be – Ron Paul.
