Why We Should Not Hate The American Troops In Iraq

An editorialized look at why we should show support for the American troops in Iraq.

In every conflict that is started by politicians and religious leaders, there are men and women who have to fight it. These men and women are not the ones who initiated the conflict but they will be the ones to suffer and bleed until it is over. It is how war has worked throughout history. The latest is no exception.

Often we forget that the soldiers we have in the Middle East are no different from ourselves. They are writers, computer programmers, and mechanics. They grew up just like we did and have the same morals and beliefs. Often, as the quote at the beginning of this article questions, it is the lower classes that contributes the most to the military. However, regardless of class, they are all still people just like us. .

We should support them in every way possible because they are our people. We should hope that every mission they undertake is successful. Also, very much in conflict with the latter, we should not support the campaign they have been sent on no matter how hypocritical it may sound.

Another contradictory statement in this situation that is true as well is the fact that the blood of this war does not lie on the hands of the soldiers who spill it. It lies in the hearts and minds of those who sent them on this ill-advised adventure. It is they who will be the ones to burn in whatever hell people will make up for themselves after they die.

The government has now said that our soldiers can not even purchase their own body armor. They have to use that which is provided by the Army, no matter how inferior it may be. You see, it is not only us who gets screwed over by our government; our countries finest get reamed as well.

It is far past time that we as a society take a more active role on such issues. It could have just as easily been one of us over there getting killed and one of our fallen soldiers could have been sitting at home staring at the computer screen reading these words. The next time you get angry because you don’t make it through a full sitting of Halo on the Xbox, remember the guys who are across the ocean doing it for real.

Support our troops. Impeach Bush.

why the fuck dont the pusies that declare war ,l fight in them..like in the days of my great great great gramps the dude delared war on protugal or britain ...an faught in it.......

Well, I agree with what the article says, but i never hated the American troops to begin with so the title is all screweed up.

That was kinda corny in my opinion. Whatever though. We're all screwed anyway. In the future the USA will either be a chinese spoken country or a huge crator. lol, I'm glad I won't be around to see it.

Good editorial, although quoting a song really kinda degrades it...

makes it read like a wannabe punk rocker moaning on a blog, aside form that, I like and agree.

Do you also support all the Iraqi men who fought the U.S. in the first place and the Iraqis who are fighting now? Because essentially they are no different then any american citizen, love for their country. Its the same with all the north koreans that fought in Vietnam and all the axis forces that fought in WW1 and WW2.

Do you forgive the nazi stormtrooper that raped that russian women? do you forgive the soldier who dropped the gas cylinder into the chamber? do you forgive the soldier who fired the gun into the face of an unarmed boy because of his ethnic background? do you forgive them because they are the innocent soldiers caught up in politics, because they were carrying out orders? do you forgive them because it was not their choice to go to war?

Politicians aren't the ones who pull the triggers, soldiers aren't angels.

You can't blame sending troops on the governement.Yes, we should support our troops, but they brought this upon themselves, not that its a bad thing. The government abandoned drafting about 30 years ago, the troops chose to join the military, whether or not they were prepared to go to war.

I don't hate the troops, just the man who put them there. My cousin is about to quit the army cause of the war. He only serves his country for things that aren't retarded.

It's ridiculous to blame soldiers. Soldiers are just doing their jobs. they are tools, no better and no worse than the administration commanding them.

Anybody that joins the army knows they might or probably will have to go to war at some point. Unless you are in the army yourself I don't see how they are "no different from ourselves". I'm not American myself so you might disagree with me. Men and women joining the army know they are learning to fire guns so they can shoot other human beings with them at some point. In that way they are different from me because I don't want to learn to shoot a gun to shoot it at other human beings. Maybe that's just me.
