China and India are new powers of economic growth, soon to leave the US in the dust. I wonder what McDonald's new staple product will become.

Wont last forever

Too many people in there population, look why china is growing too, i am sure if the west opened its factories in africa or some place else it could get cheap labor where workers have no rights. Then it would be ok.

They have too many people anyway, isnt gonna last forever especially in china.

Wait till the UN puts out new global warming laws, its gonna cost china alot, if the west actually helps enforce the laws.

I just dont see the west letting there control slip away without a big fight.

China has been growing at this rate for about 50 years. They only need to go another 10-15 to be a larger economy than the US.

They won't be sanctioned for their growth. Per person, they still have a lot of upward potential and most are still quite poor. They use about 10% of the energy per person as most Western nations, so nobody's going to accuse them of using too much.

Population is not a problem in China anymore - their population growth is quite low and the country is actually quite old. They are a little older than Americans, but unlike America, they have huge savings to draw upon.

Both countries will be retiring much of their workforce in the next few years, but the Chinese will be doing it by collecting on their debt from the US, and Americans will need to find a way to pay it back while also paying for their own retirement.

I suspect Americans will be selling assets to China as they did to the Japanese in the 80s (but on a much larger scale). We will be paying for our own retirees and we just won't have a lot of extra income to give back to China... we'll just have to sell some of our stuff.

Prior to invading Iraq: $1 = £1.50

The US needs to get their shit together fast.

Companies like McDonalds, Starbucks, and YUM! (KFC, Pizza Hut) won't have much trouble since they already have a well established base in China.

The US can't just turn to places like Africa, Pakistan, etc. for most of their production since political turmoil is always present and security overhead will outweigh the benefits. This is one reason why China is still the number 1 choice for production. They have the right balance of stability and competitive pricing.

The American people need to stand up, right now, to their repressive government officials and take control of the spending that is being wasted on unwarranted wars.

@janey

You mean:

Pre-Iraq: $1.50 = £1

Now: $2 = £1

Before Iraq: $.50C = $1 US
Now: $.97C = $1 US

China yes... they are industrialized and their population has a high IQ.

India, Im ambivalent about because studies show a low IQ. But even so, its currently, what? $2000 GDP? It will rise to at least $5000-10,000 before IQ becomes a limiting factor.

So, overall, yes... the future is India and Chinas'

Hmm... I already speak Hindi and Bengali... now I gotta crack open the Chinese Books...Ni-hao?

True as far as it goes, but you, intentionally I think, miss the elephant in the living room.

The US needs to stop molly-coddlying its underperforming minorities.

Dear Asshole Programmers,Hi, it's us. The consumers you love to fuck over and over again. There is a growing epidemic in the great world of computers that's expanding by leaps and bounds. It's causing innocent computer users, worldwide, to develop heart conditions from constantly burning effigies and clinching their fists as they disable annoying background processes they did not authorize to run, at all. This crap needs to stop. I can almost understand the logic...
