According to the Sheriff’s office, deputy Scarborough informed the couple that they were illegally displaying the flag and attempted to issue Mr. Kuhn with a citation. Kuhn allegedly refused to show I.D. and slammed the door on Scarborough’s hand causing a glass pane to break, which cut the deputy’s hand. The Kuhns have a different story to tell.

Yeah very interesting. But this whole case is probably gonna get thrown out of court seeing how there doesn't seem to be very much proof for either side. I do think these people were within their rights though.

what a retarded cop. upside down flag isn't like saying F America, its a political statement about things like corruption in the country or bad things going on in government.
with all the conspiracies, rights being stripped away for false hopes of security, patriot acts (commy laws), REAL ID!, the American union (merger of usa, mexico, canada, no BS)... what the heck do they expect? oh yeah thats right mainstream media pretends none of this is going on.

Upside down flag is illegal because it is a sign of distress. If you are not in distress its like a false call to 911.

upside down flag is a military distress signal... however, because it was being posted on his property, it was pretty easy to interpret as a political statement. Was it causing mass hysteria to the public? Doesn't look like it. Is it analogous to screaming fire in a crowded theater? No. Why? Because in doing that you may be causing mass hysteria and may cause harm.

He is within his rights to display his flag in any way he pleases whether any military personnel or copper agrees or not.

Don't you find it funny how many cops aren't trained in constitutional law? know why? They would have to dumb down the course. Pretty pathetic to be serving your community as an officer and not know basic constitutional law.

Another argument is that, upon looking this up, I have found that is is intended for "signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property."

However, one could take the fact that our country is being ruin by very clandestine scumbags at the moment, and perceive it as dire distress.

I would think this would be thrown out of court if it ever goes that far.

On a last note, Cops do lie.

I always laugh when these "look at me" hippies are so surprised when their little pointless act of hip defiance gets them in some form of trouble. If you're so stupid to believe that you can desecrate a symbol of your nation ('free speech') without one of your fellow members of society getting pissed off and doing something about it ... well you're probably dumb enough to be a liberal.

the upside down flag is a sign of distress. we are at a state of war with two nations, and contemplating war with a few others. our president has removed almost all of our personal freedoms and rights as americans. is that not distress?
