THE WAR IS OVER - if you want it - 4/1/07
The White House today announced intentions to allow a vote on whether to keep military forces in the Middle East or withdraw them all back home. In an even more surprising move, the vote is to take place online, using the popular social networking website, MySpace.com. The vote, which is to take place for three days starting Monday, April 2, 2007 at midnight, is open to any registered member of the online service as of 16:20 p.m. EST, the time of this announcement.
President George W. Bush has said he will heed the results of the online poll unconditionally, withdrawing every troop and tank and leaving Iraq and Afghanistan to fix their problems without the interference of the U.S. military. If the public votes yea, peace talks with Iran would also commence and a free-trade agreement would be negotiated.
The decision follows years of criticisms for the actions taken by the United States government in response to the attacks in New York City and Washington D.C. on September 11, 2001. The atrocities committed in Iraq include vast devastation of the industrial support structure, loss of internal security forces, and over 650,000 Iraqis dead, plus over 3,000 American casualties, and countless wounded.
Although there are concerns about the vote getting hacked into, or fake profiles giving individuals more than one vote, the Myspace staff has assured us that their voting software is secure and the expected error margin is as low as 0.02%.
The announcement is expected to double the President's approval ratings and assure the first real democratic decision to end a war.
Members in Congress have expressed their excitement at the possible outcome and have discussed intentions of improving our foreign policies and relationships with Arabs.
If successful, Myspace executives are optimistic of offering more opportunities for voting on key issues, such as the impeachment of the President, gay marriage legislation, and legalization of marijuana.
In unrelated news, Vice President Cheney has died from complications stemming from a blood clot in his legs which has hospitalized him several times over the last month. Also, Televangelist Pat Robertson has publicly apologized for promoting war between Christians and Muslims, stating that the modern rebirth of the medieval Crusades is "not what Jesus would do."
