Our war is over; it is time for the people of Iraq to prove their own worth.

It wasn’t supposed to be a long war. A few weeks is what they told us in the beginning. Now, years later, not only are we still there but our new plan is to send even more troops into that god forsaken desert hell. Something about this whole situation just isn’t right.
Five years is a long time. Too many of our guys have died. What are we even fighting for? Saddam is dead, his people are out of power, and our monkey-like president has gotten his personal revenge. It should be over. Why are our guys still over there dying?
Am I the only one who believes it is not our responsibility to rebuild Iraq? We conquered them. Countries that conquer other countries do not usually stick around for so long to make sure everything is ok. I know it sounds harsh, but war itself is a harsh thing. The losers never have it easy. They either rebuild themselves or die out. It is the rule of survival.
It is not our fault if the Iraqis cannot stand on their own. We don’t owe them anything. They don’t exactly pay taxes and most of them do not want us over there anyways. We can’t afford to keep sending our people to baby sit. Our guys have families. A lot of them have young children. They did their job; it is far past time that they are allowed to come home.
Yes, it is true that Iraq will likely fall into civil war if we leave, but there is no stopping that now. I say let’s let them fight it out. May the best men win. Americans died to create America, let Iraqis die to create Iraq. Our war is over, we won. Their war has just begun. They must now prove their worth as a nation and as a people. We can not do it for them.
We are fools if we believe we can. Let’s let our troops come home.
