ShoutWire’s first anniversary has come and gone. In honour of ShoutWire’s first year, I have decided to share some of the things that I have learned about writing for an online audience.

@ steelcity

Here's a breakdown of the remaining age groups:

26-30 5044 9.9233%
13-17 4045 7.9579%
31-35 2806 5.5204%
36-40 1711 3.3661%
41-45 980 1.9280%
46-50 766 1.5070%
51-55 537 1
.0565%
60+ 514 1.0112%
56-60 327 0.6433%

I keep these in mind when I write eds. If you try to write something that any age group will enjoy, you end up with a watered-down piece of crap. So I try to target certain groups with certain eds. Some are for older people, some are not.

Indeed. For the record, Zero's early shit was great. It was a Zero ed that drew me to SW (TS News) in the first place.

I just typed out and deleted five paragraphs when I realized that I am much too stoned to be commenting.

Ok I will check those out. Its wrong of me to generalize every article zero has wrote. I have only read a few, maybe he is running out of ideas. Also, with those stats you gave that means ages 0-18 accounts for just over 30%?

Too bad those statistics aren't reliable. They give you a good picture, but it's all too easy for a user to lie about their age. I don't think there's that many 60 + people actually on Shoutwire, just a few hundred 13-25 who put that as a joke.

@ Zero

Too stoned to comment? No such thing :)

That's like saying "Too stoned to write an editorial".

FidoFuck You, I Like My Bike
Up with bikes. Bicycles are the greatest invention since the wheel. Really, there are 2 wheels, making them doubly as good. The downside to bicycling is dealing with idiots in automobiles. White knuckled, bleary eyed buffoons in a hurry to go nowhere. Heads up during a collision, there’s no contest between a bike and a car, the car wins. The only upside is perhaps the opportunity to be thrown headfirst through the dumbfuck’s windshield and then be able in your blood...
