Steve Irwin, well known for his documentaries on wildlife has just been killed in a marine accident. He was filming his recent documentary when he was stung through the heart by a stingray. He was airlifted to the hospital but did not survive the trip.

Holy crap, a sting ray through the heart. That is a savage way to go. Though getting eaten by a croc might have been more fitting.

From America to Australia - we mourn with you. Steve Irwin was an amazing man and gave so much to this planet, the environment, and nature. It is worldwide tragedy that such a man could be taken from this earth in such a manner.

wow. I was just stunned when I loaded up shoutwire. I really appreciated this guy's work and it's sad that it was nature that took him out, the very thing he loved. Much like Timothy Treadwell, the guy who lived with bears.

Yah man, what a sad tragedy. He's still the best animal hunter in the world. Rest in peace, Best of luck to his kid and wife.

Is there any video showing how this took part? I'm not getting a clear picture on how a stingray could have killed him.
