This place was primed for boiling over. Ever since Kosovo was declared independent earlier in the year South Ossetia thought 'well why not us' and fought back. No surprise really.

That fuckhead leader of the country George Bush wanted to invite to Nato leveled Tshkinvali ( South Ossetian capital ) to the ground during the night bombardment . The city , which population consists 90 % of russian citizens . South Ossetian side reports 1400 dead so far . Russian Peacekeepers have 12 dead and 150 wounded .

Russian tanks reached Tshkinvali and I want to see some asskicking inflicted on georgian army .

Well theres a thing on the BBC now with the UN and russia is claiming 1,300 are already dead. Looks like it could be a full on war between russia & georgia.

This seems like the biggest news in years, imo. It's also the top news in most of my sources, such as the BBC, NPR, France24, and CBC. That's pretty big, considering it has to compete with the Olympics opening.
