Ex-oil man, T. Boone Pickens is the founder of Mesa Petroleum and founder and chairman of BP Capital Management. Mr. Pickens has a plan to drastically cut the United States need for foreign oil, not by drilling, but using wind, solar and natural gas. Instead of the normal finger pointing and hot air we usually get, this man has a plan and it makes sense to me.

Make Mr. Pickens head of the D.O.E.

@Romanov

Did you join up? If you didn't you should. It is about time someone stepped forward that has a plan. I am sending letters to my all my reps...Fucking weekly if that is what it takes. They can't ignore us if we "spam" their offices with e-mails and faxes. Local, state, federal.
If we don't get loud enough, these do-nothings will keep doing nothing if we sit back.

P.S. Thanks for the shout! I mean lets see....like 8 or 9 views and 2 shouts one being mine...fucking lurkers.

Wind is good. Also, why not put some of that oil money towards making some new, and very safe, nuclear reactors. Just a thought.

A pretty good plan. But wouldn't it be better to go heavy on nuclear power, and invent decent electric Cars? Natural gas cars will still pollute. If Global warming is the problem everyone seems to think it is, electric is definitely the way to go. I've got a hunch electric vehicles will be pushed soon. Mining Companies are staking mining claims on peoples property all over New Brunswick. looking for Uranium, as well as plans for new nuclear reactors in Ontario, New Brunswick, and Alberta.

@waffles

You need to look at it as a bridge, not the complete solution. This will let the tech catch up.
Oh, and global warming is not the problem...it is global laming.

Well theres been plenty or alternate energy available for years. I saw a doco on wind and solar and there was a wind farm (somewhere in the US) that was 2/3 shut down simply because they had no use for the energy.

Solar is becoming cheaper and cheaper and a prediction is a drastic increase in solar energy used in europe in the next few years. First cash I get is buying clean energy shares

Tidal / wave. Drastically understimated power source. The amount of energy that can be taken from waves is quite phenominal.

Cold fusion:
I believe the swiss particle collider (and the team working on it) stated something about being able to do that in a few years. That would provide MUCH MUCH more energy than current nuclear power.

Water: As in hydrogen for fuel. Technologies been around for years but nobody found a safe efficient way to convert h2o to h2 + 0 that creates more energy than it uses for the reaction. Recently I heard on the radio some uni students found some bacteria that when mixed with water and a mild electric current increases efficiency of h2o -> h2 + o by 40% which now makes it viable. Only gotta work out safe transport of hydrogen or a fast way to convert it on the go.

Air powered cars. Yep you heard right. Cars that run on compressed air. Been around a few years and good for a quick trip to work and back. I think they do about 40km's before they need a recharge. Just plug onto power overnight at home and drive off in the morning. Perfect as a short trip work car.

etc...

I was reading, a while back about Wisconsin dairy farmers setting up methane reclamation system in their cattle barns. A system in which animal waste would be converted to fuel. A 2000 head farm is said to able to provide enough methane gas to power electrical generators for a town of 6 to 8000 people.

right now, with the current laws etc making a nuclear power plant in the United States is not profitable for at least 10 years AFTER you start it up. the government actually halts that shit. back in the 70s (or 80s idk) the laws werent there and thats why we were able to make the plants. if you notice, we havent since
