This comes as no suprise as Virgin have sent leaflets out to customers inforing them they will be limiting the speed of the most heavily downloading people.

Well informing them that they are extending the limits another 6 hours on top of the limits they've already had in place for the last year
and by "most heavily downloading people" they just mean anybody who dls over a certain amount (depending on your connection) within the givin timeframe

their reason is because it slows the internet down or some load of bollocks.

Can't deal with people actually using the speed you give them? Then upgrade your servers or network structure or whatever the hell it is that you've so badly fucked up, you incompetent wankers. What the fuck do we pay you for?

If anyones intrested i just rescently changed isp and the isp i ended up with after a lot of research is O2 broadband. And ive got to say at £10 a month for a 16meg unlimited connection with no bandwidht throttling and all sorts of other little perks. O2 from what i've found is the best isp atm in the UK. In total i'm paying BT £11 a month line rental + £6 a month for free phonecalls to all UK landlines add to that the £10 a month to O2. So im paying roughly £33 a month with VAT, now thats not bad for free landline phonecalls and a truely unlimited 16mb connection with no restrictions on it.

Anyway i just though i'd post that for anyone stuck on virgin as i'd well fuck them off personally, With all the bullshit there coming out with.

p.s. I'm just letting you know i dont work for O2 or out i'm just trying to help out my net brothers & sisters against the man ;-) .

@challenger1979

Take a look at your FUP (under T&C):

"4 What about excessive network usage?

There is no limit on the monthly network usage. However if we feel that your activities are so excessive that other customers are detrimentally affected, we may give you a written warning (by email or otherwise). In extreme circumstances, if the levels of activity do not immediately decrease after the warning, we may terminate or suspend your Services.
"

@Facehammer

It's caused by ISP's not having dedicated bandwidth for each and every customer, mostly made impossible by BT's high market charges.

I've read the Fair use policey agreement otester (the first thing i did), ive also read many many reviews from people that were with o2 before i joined. And some people are using in excess of 200gb a month in bandwidth and there having no problems. I myself have hammered my connection for the last couple of months and i'm having no problems either.

Now that might change in the future at which point i'll chnge isp again. For now though i'm very very happy with O2 broadband amd would recommend them to anyone.

I pay £30 (my exchange has no LLU's), for 60GB a month (330GB off-peak), guess it's just the security since the last ISPs have had have pulled fast ones and changed their T&C's after realizing they couldn't live up to their promises, for example Fast4 claimed 500GB in T&C, they completely changed the T&C within a few months.

So how much do actually get though of that 16Mb?

I'm on 'up to' 8Mb and get 1.5Mb.

I've just checked my router and i'm currently getting 12Mb down & 1.2Mb up and i live roughly 2 miles from the exchange so thats not to bad at all.

EDIT: I'm also probably losing speed as well as the router is connected through a extremely long extension lead running from my living room around the outside of the house to an upstairs bed room.
