With so many issues on the table this year politically, don't you get offended when one side tries to (continue to) use you as their puppet?
We will be electing a new President this year. I think that the debate over whether or not the past 8 years have been "good" or "bad" has been settled.
There are still too many people who make up the (lunatic) "fringe" that "approve of" the job that George W. Bush has done. Then there are those who vehemently oppose his policies and the treacherous path he has set our great nation upon *ahem* that would be me. Then there are those resting in the middle.
They know in their heart that we NEED change. Change from Pennsylvania Avenue, to Capitol Hill, to Wall Street, to Main Street. Our country has shown time and again that when all the chips are down, when it is truly do or die, now or never, we can produce greatness. We are blessed to have a great leader in our midst. He is not burdened with the "experience" that a long political career can give you, since we have seen that "experience" comes with a hefty price tag written by all the special interests that have kept your career going. THAT needs to change. He does not read from some political playbook everytime a decision needs to be made, he is pliable, and realistic. He will do what makes the most sense, not just for Americans, but for mankind.
This scares some people. Some people think that he can't/won't possibly do what he says he will, because "we've been lied to before" or "if it sounds too good to be true, it must be". You know what else scares some people, a LOT of people, the color of his skin. 2008, and the color of his skin automatically raises questions, and FEARS, of his intentions.
He is, at the same exact time, too black but not black enough. He is too Muslim, but then he has that crazy Christian preacher we must be equally scared of. Which is it?
HE IS A TERRORIST, OR AT THE VERY LEAST, A SYMPATHIZER WITH THEM.Remember..."you are either with US, or against US"
Also remember that a barrel of oil was $36 dollars in 2003 when Rupert Murdoch, OWNER of FOX News, said that the "greatest thing that will come out of the war in Iraq WILL BE $20/barrel oil"
Today, 5 years later, almost to the day, oil is at a record high $134/barrel, and gas prices wen t over $4/gal here in UT (probably more wherever you live)
Remember that we would be greeted as liberators?
Remember that the fighting would be over in weeks, certainly no more than a couple of months?
Remember that our soldiers have been caught raping and killing innocent civilians? Mocking/torturing prisoners in Abu Ghraib? Remember that they are coming home and committing suicide in staggering, unprecedented numbers? That they cannot receive the healthcare they need, were promised, and have earned?!
Remember that your phone calls and emails MIGHT BE read/heard/archived forever by some government official, just because YOU MIGHT be a terrorist?
Remember that Bush took the reigns with a RECORD SURPLUS of over $300billion, and quickly squandered it into an ever-growing DEFICIT that currently stands at over 4 TRILLION? You do realize that is four-thousand-billion right???
Remember that our nation is falling behind in education, healthcare, and of course our economy? BUT DON'T YOU DARE RAISE MY TAXES RIGHT?
Remember that the next President will most likely be given the opportunity to seat at least 2-3 Supreme Court Justices?
Remember that John McCain PROMISES to appoint conservative judges that WILL overturn Roe v. Wade, and ELIMINATE EVERY woman's choices when it comes to their bodies?
Remember that abortion is considered MURDER by some, but WAR is not?
Remember that there are folks out there who truly believe that we can dump literally millions of tons of pollution into the air, that we can just wastewastewaste, and there will be absolutely NO consequences to our planet?
Remember the LIES? The non-stop lies, that continue to come to light every single day?
There are so many enormous issues whose potential solutions hinge on this election.
The debate could be revolutionary...
Instead, THIS is what Republicans want us to discuss:
"Dunkin Donuts has pulled a commercial featuring pitchwoman Rachael Ray wearing a scarf because Michelle Malkin and other conservative observers thought the scarf looked too much like a keffiyeh, what Malkin describes as "the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad."or THIS
FOX News prettyface-airhead commentator Douschy McDouscherson calls the celebratory "fist-bump" between Barack Obama and his wife Michelle a
"TERRORIST FIST JAB"What will your distraction be?
Race?
Fear?
Apathy?
American Gladiators?
Oh did I mention, he doesn't always wear his US Flag lapel pin either!
