Even though they reckon it will kill all resistant strains, it's still best to use it in addition to other antibiotics as the bacteria will almost certainly evolve resistance sooner or later.

Well actually I wonder if by not using the others as well as this one, if/when they do become resistant to this new drug they might be vulnerable to the old ones again. If you continue to use all of them though, then whatever is left will be resistant to everything.

If you use everything at once, the chance of resistance to all of them arising, even given a very long time, is tiny - enough that you might be able to wipe it out before it happens.

The same effect can be achieved with 3 or 4 different drugs, though, rather than every last antibiotic ever found.
