This is the first part of many lists on science fiction writers and is an experiment in democracy.

It's sometimes hard to separate scifi and fantasy....but here's some hardcore scifi writers (i prefer writers with a scientific background)

Ben Bova
Larry Niven
Greg Bear
William Gibson
Arthur C Clarke
Joe Haldeman

These writers in particular just for the jaw droppingly huge ideas in their books....hollowed out asteroids as ships, cyberpunk, teraforming worlds, populating earths orbital zones...all massive ideas!

And an honorable mention to E.E.'Doc' Smith...this guy put space opera on the map, and changed the way scifi was written in a huge way. I grew up reading this stuff...awesome!

I nominate Stephen King. One of his more recent books, Cell, is a sci-fi look into the near future and one of his best books, in my opinion. Lets not forget the fantastic epic western sci-fi adventure of the Dark Tower series as well.

I don't read a large selection of authors but I wanted to at least give Dean Koontz an honorable mention. Hideaway, and who can forget Phantoms?

Micheael Chrichton

I learned to read at 3 years old because of his books. He is my favorite author to this day.

I agree completely with:

Isaac Asimov
Harlan Ellison
Robert Heinlein
Frederick Pohl

I also suggest people look into:

Jack McDevitt
Gordon R. Dickson

^ This is a nomination process, not a vote. You only need to mention everyone once.

I wanna make you suffer too. I saw this, why wouldn't you, you clicked anyway despite the warning. Now that bulb will be in your every dream. This is what you stumble upon when you are innocently looking for some good songs. This reminded me of nova and maybe leonhart.Cheers.

Dear Male populated users of Shoutwire, please for the love of all that is good, stop trying to define women. One of the most absolutely annoying things a man can do is try to outline what turns women on and what turns us off. If anything, it’s much nicer when you admit you know absolutely nothing, which would be the truth. You want to turn women on and remain in their good books? Well- Tip number 1: Don’t act like a smart ass know it all. We know that you know abso...
