I love how smug you guys are because you haven't been in that situation. The jury was senting a message plain and simple. You are a biohazzard and you will not assault anyone with your bodily fluids. You need to drink a liter of HIV-infected saliva to be infected yourself. So that prison sentence was quite unnecessary.

No, it's not about enlightement or fake world more like a different way of seeing things.. i'm saying that most people have zero tolerance for an guy or gal with aids throwing his or her bodily fluids around at people.. Be it shit or spit.. Most people consider that an assault with a deadly weapon. Try to getting that one past the jury.

you must also consider whether this guy knew he wouldnt infect the officer.
he may have done it deliberately in the belief that it would be infect him, in which case he deserves jail. if he knew it wouldnt, then perhaps just a few years for being a cunt.
if, during the trial, they found that he was unaware that saliva transmission was a myth, he would definately be facing time.
