and so it begins.. give it long enough and eventually the public opinion turns on the government.

As this drags out, i've watched it go from an interesting case of what could have been a child protection/abuse case in history and the government stepping in to break up a ring of perverts and pedophiles.. to something oddly remniscent of how it must have seemed when the Nazi's came for the Jews.

i'm a believer in freedom, but not just a free nation, the freedom of the individual as well. If people willingly chose to peacefully live apart from normal society under their own quiet rules, then we have no right to interfere, unless there is a clear and present danger to someone else, as we assume is the case with the children here. i mean, we wouldnt accept a sect that had human slaves, even if the slaves themselves agreed on their status and volunteered willingly. So i can certainly understand the government's intent.

However, once again, where tact and conservation should have been employed to deal cautiously with this situation, the government went waltzing in with all the elegance and grace of an elephant tripping balls in a glass factory. Instead of investigating each case on it's own merits, they swooped in like the gestapo and just ripped children from parents with no real representation, no way to defend the charges, and placed them helter skelter into any home that they could find. I blame this more than anything on the liberal segment who probably couldnt stand the idea of a child going 13 years without ever watching a television.. well we will be sure to give them PLENTY of what they've been missing! Video games, tv! Hot dogs! Movies! Take that wannabe Amish. They disguise this as a willingness to introduce these children to a world of wonders.. oh it all sounds so magical..

This is where they will find their biggest mistake. you cannot take people's kids and raise them how YOU want them to be raised. You cannot lump every family in with the next. And here we have it. If you find no evidence of abuse in this particular family, what next? You return the child, say 'were sorry?' or do you never give the child back? How do you undo the damage you've done to that child's upbringing as the parents desired?

Let me put it into perspective. Say the government suspects an Islamic mosque of allowing it's members to wed underage girls. The government goes in and removes all the children from all the families that attend the mosque while they 'investigate'. During this 'investigation' the children are placed into foster homes where they are shown christian programming, allowed to play games like Grand Theft Auto, and fed pork chops, which they come to like, along with bacon which is a near perfect super food. Now the government discovers the allegations were false, and return the children home..

The damage is done.

The government better start manufacturing some child abuse cases soon, because from what my news is reporting here, they have yet to find one case of real abuse yet, and the polygamists went and got themselves a fancy high priced lawyer.

The catch here is that the original complaint that led to the raid turned out to be bogus! The recorded phone number where the complaint originated, was that of a woman that had a history of filing false complaints out of spite to the Authorities. That aside, People who knocked up minors should be charged if that is the law. But to take away a persons kid who's only crime is guilt by association is wrong. I would suggest that there are far worse so called normal parents, that treat their kids far worse than in this religious group. Look at the assholes who have a history of banging every chick in sight, and once they accidentally knock them up head for the hills. The women are left to support the children by themselves, and the kids have a real hard time growing up. The problem is that the Government should have enforced the laws from the get go, instead of letting these groups disobey the law for years and then have a huge mess to clean up, at these peoples kids expense, down the road. It doesn't matter what the authorities do or say, these children are going to be fucked up by being removed from their natural parents.
