Climate change deniers are so full of shit. Why, I remember not long ago...

A scientific paper was released. It was by a plucky, upstart scientist and published in a moderately obscure journal. It was about how the ocean's rate of absorption of CO2 was far higher than expected and somehow accounted for apparent climate change and that it would all be alright after all, or something or other.

Whatever it was about, it was big news in climate-change denial circles. Within a day or two, it was being trumpeted from the rooftops as evidence - the first genuine evidence they'd ever actually had - that clomate change was, if you'll pardon the pun, so much hot air.

Anyway, within a couple of weeks, the author - whose real name was absolutely not the one on the paper - came forward. He revealed that not only was the paper a complete fiction, but the entire journal it had supposedly been published in was too. And thus, silent volumes were spoken of the science-hating, myopic clowns who deny that climate change is a real and significant threat to humanity.
