Yep. People die in war. And while it sucks, I think it's an important aspect of conflict that gives it a more visceral and palpably despairing aspect to it.

Unfortunate for the kid, though. I've got an older brother and I wouldn't be able to make heads or tails of life for some time if he died in battle.

Again, another instant where people get misquoted.

If you ever READ or WATCH THE NEWS, McCain has stated that the 100 year occupation in Iraq would be similar to the occupation of S. Korea, Japan, Germany, and other countries.

I was moved for a moment..
Then i realized that you shamed any possible memory here by politicizing what should have been a private moment and trying to turn it into some sort of statement.

McCain had nothing to do with this, you just wanted an excuse to attack him. It's despicable, truly.

I could take pictures of someone hugging their mom who was off to Mcdonalds.. and then a picture of them kissing her in a casket after she's hit by a street racer who lost control of his car, and then try to make some sort of determination that car racing is bad..

You could do this with any number of scenarios.

I have lost close, personal friends in this war, since the word GO. Brothers closer than my REAL brother. Friends, who were there in my darkest hours, who dried my damn tears when things went wrong, who inspired and pushed me beyond my own limits under fire when the fear began to kill my mind, and friends who brought me back from the brink after trauma.

When they died, their families were PROUD. Proud that if they had to go, they went protecting those they loved, and doing what they BELIEVED in. Steve's brother knew what he was doing when he enlisted. He knew his sacrifice. Now you'd cast shame and dispersion upon his HONOR by turning it into some sort of anti-war propoganda and a cheap shot at John McCain, who by the way went far beyond the limits of i dare say ANY of us when he was Imprisoned in a POW camp where for over 5 years he was beaten, tortured, starved, and watched his friends die??
Shame on you sir. Shame!

War, and conflict is NOT without it's cost. Yes, it hurts, it sucks.. we wish we could save EVERYONE.. but we cant. People die. They died when a bunch of whacked out extremists flew PLANES into buildings.. they died when we retaliated, they died when Saddam gassed hundreds of thousands of his own people, and they died when we liberated those people from that tyrant.

This sort of thing is low and sick. And I have no stomach for it.
Exploiting a fallen soldier for cheap politics?
Shame.. upon shame, upon SHAME!

Your %100 right that soldiers died for Otesters right to say that, but no one died in Iraq for his right to say that. They died because your idiot president sent them there to do his evil bidding. The soldiers in Iraq aren't defending the US, they're occupying the oil patch and replacing a faulty puppet for Bush. Sad but True.
