I only know a few jewish people and the 2 I know well are both are from pretty strict jewish familys. But both openly question israels goverment and tactics much to the dissaprovel of there familys lol. I have been told allthough I dont know how true this is that there is a growing number of jews in israel questioning and refusing to do military service through a loophole or somthing.

^It's not a loophole, it's an Israeli law that allows soldiers that don't morally agree with tactics and think they would be forced to commit crimes against humanity. America actually has the same law, it came out of the Nueremburg trials.

They are called "Refusniks" and are shunned usually by the Israeli right, and by people out in the settlements.

Except there's no way in hell you're getting out of military service in the US unless it is for religious reasons. They don't care if your morally opposed to war, only if your religion is.

US army is volunteers. Israeli's have no choice. It's conscription. Mandatory service for all.

Can someone explain to me how one can be both a Jew and support Israel? Herzl's own son converted to Christianity because of his suppport for Israel(thus he was no longer a Jew, much to the dissapointment of other Jews). I really do wish to know.

There is no such law in Israel. However, nowadays the army is not giving a hard time to those who do not want to serve as before. Bottom line is that if you don't want to serve you will not serve and as a result the percentage of eligible youth enlisting is decreasing every year.

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that being Jewish was based more on religeous beliefs than to racial identity. Under this belief, I am unaware of any reference to a return to a Jewish Homeland in the Old Testament. I could be wrong but it is only mentioned in the New Testament. As such, is there a new Covenant between the Jewish people and God or have Jewish beliefs become secular concerning Israel. Is this not one of the points in which Jewish supporters of Israel oppose Orthodox Judaism? Personally, I have found it interesting that the Son of the Father of Israel converted to Christianity.
