12 Core Processors Anyone?

AMD plans to ship out 6 core processors in 2009, 8 core ones also sometime in 2009 and 12 core ones in 2010. Makes me wonder if they'll use the latin prefixes [like quad] cause 6 cores would be called sex-cores... they'll probably go with greek prefixes though and call them hex-cores...

this 12 core processor should be put in with the article "9 Devices That Are Clearly Compensating For A Small Penis" thats also on the front page at the minute.

That's all fine and dandy..I wish that chipmakers would get together with developers and talk things thru. What is the point of a 12 core processor when nobody writing software to support such a beast.. They can barely support 2 cores now...I find it hard to believe that in two years..We are going to need 12 cores outside of 3d modeling and animation..

Atleast all these over the top new processors are going to knock down the price of the slower ones.
