No Rachmaninov? Liszt? Haydn? Debussy? Schumann? (Clara, not Robert)

Still, excellent list. I'm glad to see there's a place for this art form here on SW. I wish I could post some pieces I myself find to be inspiring or just downright awesome.

Oh, to be an editor! :)

a couple additions i would like to mention

i must say, debussy's 'clair de lune' is a fantastically beautiful song on piano. i don't know why, but it just always tugs at me.

for a more modern bent, I would suggest two pieces, both from movie sountracks.

yann tiersen's amelie soundtrack has the fantastic 'Comptine d'un autre été: l'après midi' - a beautiful work to say the least

also, jon brion's sountrack to 'eternal sunshine of the spotless mind' .. there's a minute long piano riff called 'row' that is simply heartrenderings... its a simple melody, and all about the dynamics

<3 classical music, and among classical music Mozart is definitely my favorite.

Ronda alla Turka is one of my favorite of all time though. My grandma plays it all the time when i visit her house. She's amazing on the piano(before she retired, she worked as some sort of assistant, and reached 125 WPM on a fucking TYPEWRITER)

Also... Rap sucks. Period.

hmm I prefer brass (being an ex brassy) far as classical goes. Even for ave maria as trumpet is such an expressive instrument. And lets not forget the fantastic pieces by Grieg and Bizet either

Love Chopin. The Nocturnes are amazing, and so are the Etudes. My personal favorite is Nocturne in E Flat Major. It's very calming.

Beethoven's Symphony #9, fourth movement.

Best classical bit, hands down (classical in the old sense, not as in the musical era)
