The man is a hero, too bad it was displayed in this tragedy.

Before I even started reading the article, I knew he was a man of religion.

And would you know it, it was even specifically mentioned in the article:


How did I know this?

Because an Atheist would never sacrifice his own life for another, for he fears death above all else. Since he is chained by the horror of non-existence if faced with death; to him his own life trumps all other causes. An Atheist is incapable of such heroic acts of self-less bravery and sacrifice.

If you were in a foxhole, would you want an Atheist covering your back? I know I woulden't...

As an athiest, I would be the first to throw Hanafi in harms way. Since when do you have to be religious to do good?

There's a BIG difference between sacrificing yourself for your own kin and doing it for complete strangers. A lot of people will understand those that do it for members of their own family but not many will comprehend why anyone would do it for someone that's not.

I'm not trying to diminish this man's sacrifice but I can say with certainty that many here would understand his sacrifice rather than when a a person willingly sacrifices themselves for complete strangers.

The concept of not existing is indeed frighting since its something our mind simply can't imagine (which is where the concept of eternal souls probably comes from). But I don't see the religious folk as being that much different, sure you can say otherwise but who can honestly say you won't contemplate the possibilities when your time comes?.
