So you've done everything you know of to try to get your site to the top of Google, and after months of hard work it's still not there. Is it a Google conspiracy?

Getting into googles first page is pretty easy as long as you know something about how the particular search engine works. I used to be in the top 5 results or "celeb fakes" and i think my site is still somewhere on page one for "nude celeb fakes" or "nude celebrity fakes"

was it full of photos of celeb fakes or nude celeb fakes?

If so, it has nothing to do with knowledge of how the search engine works, and more to do with actually being what the searcher was probably looking for.

You have no idea how many companies want their page about auto loans to rank high for "chevy tahoe" or something. Sure it's related, and you can convert that person to a loan.. but would you expect to find a loan company or information about a tahoe?

People actually do that? then doesn't that make their website full of useless junk unrelated to their real objective?

Not really useless is it. Just that he is looking at the wrong target audience. He wants people to browse his site for a booking or a consultation of some sort. So why does he not search google for chimney sweep consultations, Boston. It's because he doesn't know what he is on about. But because he is the owner, he thinks he knows best.

Happens all the time. Especially with web design... "Why dont you put that photo there, with a flashing border, that will work well, won't it" etc.

Any other thoughts on this subject??????

Any other links to information similar to this?

This is one of the best articles I have ever read on SHOUTWIRE. I guess it's cause I can actually relate to alot of it. Alot of what is available here is conjecture and babble. Not that I mind though. LOL

I swear Google uses Alexa as part of it's search engine technology as well. I took a shot in the dark on a photo announcement website I had to do and bought one of those things that sends a bunch of hits to your site. Eventually it reached up to 40,000+ ranked site on Alexa, and as soon as that happened it showed up on page one.

Just my thoughts, and I can't verify anything because I've only tried it once.

sounds like coincidence to me..

most likely, the mass of visitors was caused by an influx of links (more people visit more people link, more people visit)
it's a cool spiral

chances are those links brought up the google rank.

Excellent article and holds very true. Trying to explain such to a client isn't fun as they really have no grasp of the idea.
