I think it should be "Top Ten Fantasy Writers writing in English" .

Did anyone read "Witcher" series about Geralt of Rivia , by Andrzej Sapkowski ? Or works by Yuri Nikitin ?

And why is J.K. Rowling better than Terry Pratchet ? Terry Pratchet's "Discworld" books are most definately better than "Adventures of Harry Pothead" .

Interesting list...but Rowling?! Have you read the 7th book?! Theres better fanfiction *shudder* out there than her last book. That middle section is enough to make you want to kill yourself, and the sudden emergence of super powerful items...she obviously ran out of ideas.

What about robin hobb? Eddings definitely deserves a mention as well.

Neil Gaiman is an amazing fantasy author. I kind of think of him as the English Miyazaki as far as just how far their imaginations stretch. I stumbled across this just hours after finishing his book Neverwhere. If you haven't read that I highly recommend it, as well as Stardust. I read American Gods some years ago and I think, in retrospect, I was too young to appreciate it. I think I should pick it up and read it again.

No one here read any Dragonlance books? How 'bout Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (as a team, I haven't read any of their books that they have done independently)?

Good to see Terry Goodkind on the list, I don't personally know many people who've read his books, but everybody I've lent the first book to loved the series.

Also, Goodflyerfye, I'm going to assume you're joking when you L. Ron Hubbard. Plus, he's a sci-fi writer, not fantasy. Same with Philip K. Dick (great stuff, but more sci-fi than fantasy).

^ And why am I not surprised to see almost nobody mentioned any non-english writers? Oh right yeah, for native english speakers the outside world doesn't exist.

goodflyerfye, it's about the FANTASY genre. SF is not Fantasy. But Hubbard? You're joking, right?

actually heinlein, asimov, and clarke (among others) considered what they wrote 'Fantasy'. asimov said it many times in articles, essays, book intros, etc.

they consider it fantasy because they took liberties with science (FTL travel, fusion drives, humanoid robots, etc)

FidoQuick Take On The RNC
Being an open minded individual, I decided to spend a couple hours watching the Republican national convention in St Paul, or Minneapolis, Minnesota, or wherever it is. I had initially tuned in to watch Sarah Palin’s address, in order to maybe get a read on what she may be all about. I regret that I couldn’t get that far. After viewing Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani speak to the delegates, I felt an overwhelming need to seek asylum in another country. ...
