A show that starts with such great promise soon took a nose dive worse then when Twin Peaks was on the air.

Season 4's been pretty good so far, I think. Switching to flash forwards has really jazzed things up.

And that one where Desmond comes unstuck in time is the best Lost episode there's been.

Shows like lost are the sole reason why i stopped watching tv, because there's so much bullshit. There's maybe a couple of channels with something decent on, and even at THAT you have to wait till the other bs shows are done on that channel.

I have already seen every episode of Fantasy Island.

@Lifes

The Waldo is funny! I wouldn't have noticed if you wouldn't have pointed it out.
I have a tattoo of Greg....sorry.

Bashed. Lost is one of the best shows on television. Anyone who can't recognize that has no business critiquing TV.

You have to take the show for what it is. It's a high-class soap opera. The appeal lies in being interested in the characters and what happens to them. It has excellent direction, great writing, and amazing actors. (except for Emile DeRavin) If you are looking for something else, it would be best to keep looking.

Secondly, since it's not a documentary, reality show, or deserted-island-survival-simulation, it would be advisable to suspend your disbelief considering it is a work of fiction. So, yes, Hurley is fat, because, guess what? He's fat in real life.

So which is it? Are there too many complex story lines? Or does nothing happen in an episode? These seem to be conflicting complaints.

Now, don't get me wrong, the complaint most people have about Lost, was a valid complaint shared by most Lost fans, which is the problem of the untied loose ends of plot lines. But, you have to understand where the writers were coming from. During the first two seasons, Lost was not under contract by ABC, for all the writers knew, the show could go on for 2, 5, or 10 more years. So it was hard for them to structure plot lines on such a complex show. Now though, the writers know exactly when the show is going to end, so they can work around that frame-work.

So, yeah, a bit of a rant on my part, the topic struck a bit of a nerve with me. I just hate seeing art being unappreciated.

"I still think Lost is a great show.

The problem with Lost, as with other great shows like Dead Like Me, Dexter (the showtime version, not the tamed NBC version), Journeyman, battlestar galactica and Jericho was that these shows are very exciting in the very beginning when we are getting introduced to the setting, the characters, and the storytelling method.. but as time goes on and we become accustomed to the show's characters, we sorta lose.. something with familiarity.

Lost is still interesting, just not AS interesting as it was because we've had time to become.. USED to the 'mystery'. Now it's become "yes, yes, we know the island is mysterious." or "okay okay we get it.. the people who were our enemies turn out to be our friends who were trying to prevent our friends who turned out to be our enemies from destroying us in a wild and crazy plot twist at the end of the season. Yawn".

Remember how mysterious Locke was? Or how sinisterly brilliant Ben was? Or how cool and tough Sayid was because he was a bad ass Iraqi royal guard soldier (apparently the royal guard were some bad ass special forces troops and not the scrubs who threw their weapons down in the sand and ran screaming into the blinding desert sand during Operation Freedom).

Well these people arent all that cool anymore because.. we've gotten used to them and in some ways they've taken like two steps back. Sayid should be pwning bitches all over the island rambo style, using his interrogation techniques and his ability to turn off his feelings and go Solid snake on the "others". instead he's thwarted at every turn by some ivy league twat who wants to play 'leader' but doesnt have the balls to step up and do whats neccessary for the good of everyone involved.

Sadly, the next season will probably be the last. These days shows dont last very long on networks unless they are the top-rated show amongst white people age 50-75 every single week. Anything less, and you can expect it to find itself well cancelled into cult status long before it really should be.. did i mention Journeyman??"

No. You're dumb and so is Lost.

I care what happens to the characters, I want them to be tortured along with the writers for not knowing where the fuck they are going with this show.

Dexter is much better. Says something about Lost when I feel more sympathy for a serial killer than I do some crash victims. Or maybe it just says I'm a dick and I hope they all die.

And what the fuck is Michael doing back? and why the fuck would you tell your kid you killed two people? Oh yeah son, I did some fucked up shit. Don't you go doing what I did.

Dexter is/was great..
but if you've seen season 2.. you'll realize that season 3 is going to have some issues.. i honestly think that the writers, in trying to make the show more and more exciting (which they accomplished) wrote themselves into an impossible situation that simply cannot have a believable resolution.

as for Lost, Sayid is not a pussy.. he's forced to abide by the 'values' and 'rules' of a bunch of yuppy white goody two shoes.. as such, he can never get anything to go the way he should.
Had they let him torture Ben, all of this nonsense would have been solved long, long ago. But no..

and Hurley is still fat because Hurley EATS ALL DAY and sits around on the beach annoying the other people, who probably give him food to go away.
I mean, there was an episode where we discover he was LITERALLY hording FOOD and eating peanut butter by the JAR..
Straight from the Jar!

Thanks to the conveniently scripted supply drops by the Dharma institute (an organization that has become all but non-existent in the series), these people dont have to fend for themselves!

Dont forget, although the show has been on about 4 years, in their timeline it's only been about 2 and a half months.
So i wouldnt expect too many physical changes.

I heard a rumor that Fox was planning an "Aliens" tv series. Something to do with them infecting Earth or Space Marines the series or something.
If anybody finds a link on that let me know.. google isnt being too kind.
