Every day millions of people happily give money to buy little sticks of pleasure. Is there any hope for smokers to resist the calming sensations provided by these chemical packs?

Personally, I've tried smoking for a long time, it becomes unbearable, I don't even know HOW people can smoke that shit on a daily basis. I quit after two weeks with no trouble, made me fucking sick.

BUT, I'd also like to stress. I don't think smokers want to be seeing this crap, you don't think they see it enough? Every time they open a packet of cigarettes they get warned of their inevitable death by lung cancer, or heart disease etc. They know, they don't need more reminding, if they don't want to quit, fuck it. They obviously get enjoyment from it so let them alone and get on with it.

I don't mind smokers if they kept it to themselves. The worse part is when they think that it's okay to share their smoke with people who don't smoke. Second hand smoke is one of my pet peeves. Especially where I come from. Smokers in my country are some of the worse kinds of humans. They'd smoke in air conditioned rooms given 1/2 the chance. And then act all nonchalant about it.

@ TotalBukkakeAnnihilation. I'd like to think people are being informed enough but from what I see, the answer is no.

Despite warnings many people just don't understand the extent of the harmful chemicals that are in cigarettes and that it is the leading cause of death that is preventable. The trends and expected death rate from cigarettes is really saddening. Access to information is the best way to help with the problem.

Also, kudos for being able to quit in a two week period.

I smoke, and have been trying to quit on and off for a long time. It's long run of "screw this I'm sick of smoking" and "man i love smoking" that switches back and forth.

But since you spent the time to post this, why don't you post something on overweight people too. I swear if one more fat person tells me I shouldn't be smoking I'll tear out their eyes. If you have an unhealthy diet (which what, 60%+ of americans do anyway) then you just need to back off, because in a couple years your obesity epidemic will overshadow smoking, if it hasn't already.

I've even had people tell me that my smoking is part of global warming, that I am killing the environment on each light. A little far fetched, I doubt me smoking is causing these massive hurricanes.
But by that standard, your obesity is going to be inherited by your children, so in a way, your a kid killer.

I really don't mind these kind of articles, and I highly don't recommend any of the pills the FDA says are ok to quit smoking with. If you really want to quit, and if you haven't died by then, wait for the nicotine vaccine to make it's way around the globe.

Edit: Not to mention the statistics for smoking is all jacked up, they actually count it as a smoking-related death if you are a smoker and get killed in a car accident that has nothing to do with smoking.

These pictures should be layed out everywhere people dont see it enough, you just cant stress how pointless smoking is. Its an addiction thats hard to quit and only fools get hooked on it. In my book its up there with heroin and anyone who smokes is really dumb

FidoPolitical Prestidigitation
Roughly sixty Days from today, American voters will go to the polls to select a new President. Issues of health care, security and an unpopular war weigh heavily on the minds of US citizens.Or, do they? Several days ago, Barack Obama delivered a bombastic acceptance speech delineating the brave new course his administration would undertake. The logistics of which seemed to get lost in the rhetoric. But, it was inspiring none the less. The Democratic party was united...
