There is a shoutwire post about this that brings this issue in a different light with a title
"American spy satellite downed in Peru as US nuclear attack on Iran thwarted"

Some believe that the crater indicates it could not have been a meteorite at all and that the sickness comes from radiation from the acclaimed crashed spy satellite's radioactive components.
